Mechanical Issue for Ruman at Trans Am NOLA SpeedTour
17 Apr 2024
Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series Championship Presented by Pirelli returned to NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, LA, this past weekend as part of the 2024 SpeedTour. The team made some adjustments after testing and practice, but a shortened qualifying session hampered Rumans efforts to put down a great lap, ultimately qualifying her No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette P5 for Saturday’s TA/GT race. Unfortunately, the race was short lived when the clutch let go on the beginning of lap 3, sidelining her for the rest of the race. “I’m so frustrated! It’s just so unfortunate when mechanical failures happen and they are out of our control. I was just settling in after a few laps and I’m pretty sure I would’ve had an exciting race with Andretti and Drissi. Falling out really damaged our points effort this weekend, but we will move on to the next,” stressed Ruman. TA class teams will have a short break and then head to Lime Rock Park, CT, May 24th-27th. After Round 3 at NOLA, the TA National class championship is heating up. Paul Menard leads with 270 points, followed by Chris Dyson in second – 262, Adam Andretti third – 248, Read more →

After qualifying seventh in her No. 23 McNichols Co. Chevrolet Corvette, Ruman secured a fifth-place finish and scored some more valuable points in the Championship hunt this weekend. “I’m thankful we had a great weekend at Road Atlanta. The field was super tight in qualifying with about a second and a half covering the top 7 spots. I had some great runs during the race but unfortunately got caught in lapped traffic in the downhill esses which cost me five seconds on that lap. Really hard to make that time up without a caution in the race. The car is in one piece with no issues so that’s always a win for us!” mentioned Ruman. After Round 2, Paul Menard leads TA National class championship with 184 points, followed by Keith Grant in second – 180, Adam Andretti third – 179, Amy Ruman is fourth – 177, and Tomy Drissi sits in fifth – with 169 points.
