Munroe Falls, Ohio – After a hard crash at Road America just a few short weeks ago, the Ruman Racing team turned its focus toward repairing the No. 23 Corvette and preparing for the next two rounds of the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli championship this weekend at Watkins Glen International, NY (WGI) of the 2026 schedule. Road America Recap: What was shaping up to be another weekend of progress for Amy Ruman and team, ended abruptly Saturday morning at Road America. During the morning practice session for the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli, a steering component failure sent Ruman’s No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette into the wall in turn 7, causing extensive damage that prevented the team from competing in Sunday’s TA race. “It was completely unexpected,” said Ruman. “A steering component broke in the morning practice, leaving me as a passenger and sending the car into the wall. Munroe Falls, Ohio – Amy Ruman made a successful return to competition last weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, advancing from twelfth on the starting grid to finish seventh in the TA class and ninth overall in the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli event. The race marked Ruman’s first appearance behind the wheel of the No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette since suffering serious leg injuries in an off-track accident last fall. After missing the conclusion of the 2025 season and the opening rounds of the 2026 season, taking the green flag at Indianapolis represented a major milestone in her recovery. “It felt so good to be back in the 23 and in the Trans Am paddock again,” said Ruman. “Had a lot of fun battles and close racing to help get me back in the grove. I’m happy with how things went and especially glad we had a decent finish in the race. I need to keep working on finding more speed and putting together faster laps, but the biggest thing is continuing to build stamina and strength. Munroe Falls, Ohio – After months of rehabilitation and recovery from a serious injury suffered last year, two-time Trans Am champion Amy Ruman is set to make her return to the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli competition this weekend. The Series returns to the racing capital of the world, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, IN (IMS), home of the Indianapolis 500, after a three-year hiatus. Ruman has been sidelined since an off-track accident in late October that resulted in complex fractures to her right ankle, tibia, and fibula, requiring two surgeries and extensive titanium hardware placement. The injury forced her to miss the conclusion of the 2025 season as well as the opening rounds of the 2026 championship. Now, after months of physical therapy and hard work, Ruman will return to the cockpit of the No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette at one of motorsports’ most iconic venues. Munroe Falls, Ohio – As the 2026 Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli Championship prepares to open March 1 at Sebring International Raceway, a familiar presence in the TA field will be notably absent. After missing the 2025 season finale at Circuit of the Americas in November, Amy Ruman—a Trans Am Hall of Famer and two-time series champion—will also miss the season opener for the first time in her Trans Am career. Ruman was involved in an off-track accident in late October that resulted in a complex fracture to her right ankle, tibia, and fibula. She underwent two successful surgeries and required extensive titanium hardware placement. Her recovery is progressing but is a slow and steady process that will take time. “I was disappointed for the team and our sponsors not to be able to finish out the season at COTA, and unfortunately I’m still sidelined,” said Ruman. “This was a significant injury that takes time to heal. Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli is heading to Barber Motorsports Park, Leeds, AL for the first time in the history of the series as part of the 2025 SpeedTour. VIR Recap: Ruman and team are looking for redemption after the outing at VIRgina International Raceway (VIR) last month. Ruman qualified the No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette in 5th and was running strong in third place when she was hit in the left rear corner and spun around by the No. 7 of Tomy Drissi. She continued after the altercation but ultimately the door flew off and forced her to pit lane, ending her day early. “Really disappointing and unfortunate for us not to be standing on the podium,” stated Ruman. “The team gave me a great car today and we deserved to be in the top three, this seriously impacted me in the points standings.” Drissi received two post-race penalties totaling 54 seconds for avoidable contact with Ruman and in separate incident with Andretti.
