Amy Ruman Set to Return to Trans Am Competition at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Father’s Day Weekend
18 Jun 2026
Munroe Falls, Ohio – After months of rehabilitation and recovery from a serious injury suffered last year, two-time Trans Am champion Amy Ruman is set to make her return to the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli competition this weekend. The Series returns to the racing capital of the world, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, IN (IMS), home of the Indianapolis 500, after a three-year hiatus. Ruman has been sidelined since an off-track accident in late October that resulted in complex fractures to her right ankle, tibia, and fibula, requiring two surgeries and extensive titanium hardware placement. The injury forced her to miss the conclusion of the 2025 season as well as the opening rounds of the 2026 championship. Now, after months of physical therapy and hard work, Ruman will return to the cockpit of the No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette at one of motorsports’ most iconic venues. Drivers will run on the challenging 14-turn 2.439-mile IMS Grand Prix Road Course, which uses part of the oval and the infield road course. “I’m incredibly excited to be returning to Trans Am competition at the Brickyard and a bonus for my Dad to be back at the track on this Read more →

Amy Ruman Sidelined for Start of 2026 Trans Am Season
20 Feb 2026
Munroe Falls, Ohio – As the 2026 Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli Championship prepares to open March 1 at Sebring International Raceway, a familiar presence in the TA field will be notably absent. After missing the 2025 season finale at Circuit of the Americas in November, Amy Ruman—a Trans Am Hall of Famer and two-time series champion—will also miss the season opener for the first time in her Trans Am career. Ruman was involved in an off-track accident in late October that resulted in a complex fracture to her right ankle, tibia, and fibula. She underwent two successful surgeries and required extensive titanium hardware placement. Her recovery is progressing but is a slow and steady process that will take time. “I was disappointed for the team and our sponsors not to be able to finish out the season at COTA, and unfortunately I’m still sidelined,” said Ruman. “This was a significant injury that takes time to heal. Thankfully, I have an outstanding medical team, the surgeries were successful, and the fractures are healing well. The two-month post-surgery non-weight-bearing phase is now behind me, and I’m actively working through physical therapy. We’re focused on restoring mobility and strength in the Read more →

Ruman Set to Bounce Back at CTMP After Major Wreck at Watkins Glen
27 Aug 2025
Munroe Falls, Ohio – Fortunately, there was a six-week break in between races for the Ruman team as the Watkins Glen weekend did not go according to plan in round 8 of the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli. July 11 – Watkins Glen Recap: The team had just unloaded the trailer and onto the track for testing when disaster occurred on only the second lap of testing. Ruman was exiting the last turn onto the front straight when a suspension piece broke on the No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette sending her directly into the wall. The car took a huge hit to the left front corner and the entire left side as she road down the wall. “What a huge disappointment for the entire team. I knew as soon as it broke as I lost all steering capabilities and at that point, I was just a passenger with nothing I could do. Unfortunately, the break didn’t happen in turn 1 where there would have been plenty of runoff and no walls. We got into the frame and the car suffered too much damage to be able to fix at the track,” remarked Ruman. “We debated how Read more →
