Munroe Falls, Ohio – Amy Ruman made a successful return to competition last weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, advancing from twelfth on the starting grid to finish seventh in the TA class and ninth overall in the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli event.
The race marked Ruman’s first appearance behind the wheel of the No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette since suffering serious leg injuries in an off-track accident last fall. After missing the conclusion of the 2025 season and the opening rounds of the 2026 season, taking the green flag at Indianapolis represented a major milestone in her recovery.
“It felt so good to be back in the 23 and in the Trans Am paddock again,” said Ruman. “Had a lot of fun battles and close racing to help get me back in the grove. I’m happy with how things went and especially glad we had a decent finish in the race. I need to keep working on finding more speed and putting together faster laps, but the biggest thing is continuing to build stamina and strength. There is just no substitute for seat time and that’s what I need.”
After a quick turnaround, the team now shifts its focus to the Round 7 of the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli at the legendary Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, this weekend for the Cheese Capital Cup.
The Series returns to one of the nation’s most notorious road courses and one of the fastest tracks on the schedule. Road America is a 4.048-mile circuit constructed of 14-turns and is the longest track on the schedule. “I love Road America, the fans here are awesome and it’s the best track to showcase the horsepower of the TA cars,” remarked Ruman.
Fifty-six competitors are entered across all classes, with seven running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Friday through Sunday. The Trans Am TA/GT feature race will be Sunday, June 28th at 10:05am CT. The CUBE 3 Architecture TA2® Series race will follow at 1:10pm CT. Both races are 101.2 mi, 25-laps. After Round 6, Matthew Brabham leads the TA National class championship with 619 points, followed by Paul Menard in second – 601, Tomy Drissi in third – 525, David Pintaric fourth – 510, and Simion Gregg sits in fifth – with 325 points.
