Munroe Falls, Ohio – Amy Ruman and the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli are heading into the final three rounds of the 2018 Championship schedule which kicks off the southern swing at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) in Danville, VA, this weekend.
Currently sitting in fifth place in the points standings, the former two-time Trans Am Champ is looking to strengthen her points position with strong results. She has finished the last few rounds just out of podium contention, landing two forth place finishes at Road America and Watkins Glen. Ruman has been on the podium at VIR but has not landed a win at the circuit yet.
“We’ve had good runs the last few races, so hopefully this weekend it all comes together for us. I love VIR, it’s a great track with unique challenges. We are hoping for sunny skies, so we can put the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette to work this weekend. We are just a few points behind and closing in on forth place in the standings, so we are looking to gain more valuable points this weekend,” exclaimed Ruman.
The Series is running in conjunction with SVRA’s Heacock Classic Gold Cup event. Drivers will take on the exciting, iconic 18 turn, 3.27-mile track. 48 competitors are entered across all classes for the event with 17 running in Ruman’s TA class.
Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday through Sunday. The TA2 race Powered by AEM will be Saturday, September 22nd at 10:55am and the Trans Am 100 – TA/3/4 will run at 5:35pm ET. Both races are 101.37-miles, 31-laps.
