Sebring, FL — Trans-Am series veteran, Bob Ruman, kicked off his sixth consecutive Trans-Am season with a 10th place finish at Sebring on Friday. The thirty-nine drivers took the green flag at 4:00pm Friday under partly cloudy skies that turned hot and sunny during the race.
“While we had a very challenging first week out, with set-up and a few mechanical difficulties, the team really gave me a solid car to race with,” said Ruman. “ The car felt good for the entire race and I’m very pleased with this top-10 finish. I had several good battles throughout the race – including G.J. [Mennen] and Max [Lagod].”
Ruman, in the #23 Cenweld Corp. Corvette, qualified 23rd in the 39 car field with only one lap of qualifying due to several mechanical problems. He started 21st when two cars dropped to the back of the field. In the first two laps, Ruman moved up four spots to 17th. He then proceeded to knock off one pass after another, moving to 12th place by lap 20 of 27 when the caution flag came out. The course went green on lap 26, and in the final two lap shootout Ruman was able to take the checkered flag in 10th place.
The next Trans-Am race will be in Long Beach on April 7.
