Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli heads to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH, this weekend. Trans Am will be running in conjunction with the SVRA Vintage Grand Prix, part of the 2022 SpeedTour. Ruman is coming off a fourth-place finish at Lime Rock Park over Memorial Day weekend last month heading into the halfway point of the season.
Ruman and her team are still in pursuit of a Trans Am victory at the Mid-Ohio circuit, a track she lives about an hour away from. She is optimistic for a great finish this weekend in No. 23 McNichols Co. Chevrolet Corvette in front of her hometown crowd.
“This weekend is really the highlight of our season as we always have a huge crowd of friends, family, and sponsors that attend the race. Mid-Ohio is tough, busy, and challenging and it has thrown us some curve balls in the past. The competition has been fierce this year and the top four competitors are all in a tight points battle. This weekend I’m going to focus on consistency for the race, as race day temperatures are probably going to hit 90 degrees, so heat is going to come into play. Tire management will be key, which is always a struggle,” remarked the two-time Trans Am champion.
Fifty-three competitors are entered across all classes for the weekend at the 13-turn, 2.258-mile legendary road course in Lexington, Ohio, with eleven running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday through Sunday. The TA/GT feature race will be Saturday, June 25th, at 1:15pm with a fan walk on pit lane beginning at 12:25pm ET. The TA2® race will be Sunday at 10:55am ET, both races are 45-laps. Visit midohio.com, gotransam.com, speedtour.net, svra.com for tickets, schedules, and all other weekend information.
Ruman and team are entrenched in a thrilling Trans Am battle for the Championship with only two points separating second, third, and fourth place at the halfway point of the 2022 season.
Chris Dyson leads the TA National class championship with 186 points, followed by Tomy Drissi in second – 135, Ken Thwaits in third – 135, Amy Ruman in fourth – 134, and Humaid Masaood sits in fifth – with 65 points.
