Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli heads to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH, this weekend. Running in conjunction with the SVRA Vintage Grand Prix as part of the 2021 SpeedTour, Trans Am will feature two races this weekend, TA2 and TA/XGT/SGT/GT.
Ruman only lives about an hour away from the track she calls home and is looking forward to having a great race this weekend in No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette in front of her hometown crowd. She will be looking for her first Trans Am victory at the Mid-Ohio circuit.
The Trans Am PR team caught up with Ruman and asked how the two-time Trans Am champion felt coming into the weekend with the home track advantage – “I have spent a lot of time at Mid-Ohio, from spectating as a kid, to racing consistently here over the years. Mid-Ohio is a particularly challenging, unique course. Track conditions can change at any given moment and that’s part of its uniqueness. There is no time for rest either, it’s remarkably busy. I am determined to have a good finish this weekend, preferably a win, and would love to move up in the standings – we have had a bit of a rough season thus far so I would love to turn it around at my home track.”
The Stow, Ohio native also remarked, “I love racing at my home track, it is the one stop on the schedule that we always have a large crowd of family, friends, and sponsors in attendance. I am excited to have Trans Am put on a great show. Hopefully, the weather cooperates, and we will have a nice sunshine filled weekend!”
Fifty-three competitors are entered across all classes for the weekend at the 13-turn, 2.258-mile legendary road course in Lexington, Ohio, with eleven running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday through Sunday. The TA2® race feature race will be Saturday, June 26th at 1:05pm followed by the TA/XGT/SGT/GT on Sunday at 1:10pm ET, both races are 45-laps.
