Munroe Falls, Ohio – Amy Ruman took home a top five finish at her home track Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this past weekend after several years of frustrating races and finishes there. A super competitive TA field came to Lexington, OH, prepared to put on a great show for all the incredible fans that came out to watch the Trans Am Series FirstEnergy 100 this past weekend.
Ruman qualified sixth on the TA grid for Round 6 of the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli in the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette. It was a picture-perfect weather race weekend for all of the fans that poured into the gates for the early Saturday morning race. Ruman had some great battles throughout the race with the No. 57 of Pintaric and No. 2 of Said. She was in fourth place when a late race caution came out to bunch up the field. Unfortunately, the drivers would not go back to green as the official time limit of the race wound down forcing them to finish under yellow conditions.
“While I’m very happy that we had a decent finish here today, I was definitely disappointed that we didn’t get to go back to racing at the end. I wanted to get a shot at third place once the field bunched back up – but it just wasn’t in the cards today. I really want to thank all of my friends, family, and fans who got up early and came out to cheer for us today! What an incredible feeling to see all of you here supporting us year after year – we really, really appreciate it!” exclaimed Ruman.
With just four rounds to go, the race is heating up for the 2019 chase for the Trigon Trophy after Round 6 at Mid-Ohio – Chris Dyson leads the TA class championship with 167 points, Ernie Francis Jr. is in second with – 162, Amy Ruman is third – 132, Simon Gregg in fourth – 120, and David Pintaric in fifth place – 108 points.
