Munroe Falls, Ohio – Amy Ruman and team are heading to VIRgina International Raceway (VIR) in Danville, VA, this weekend for the Mission Foods Speedtour after a tough race at Watkins Glen last month. Ruman has not been to VIR since 2020 after missing the race last year while recovering from Covid-19.
The team has been working day and night repairing the No. 23 McNichols Chevrolet Corvette from the substantial damage it sustained during the race at Watkins Glen when Ruman slid off track in the rain and made contact with a barrier. Ruman’s best finishes at VIR have been a pair of third places (2020 race 1, 2014).
“I can’t thank my crew enough for their tireless efforts getting the car repaired and finishing it in time to be back in action for this weekend at VIR! Missing the race here last year was a huge disappointment for us, so we are happy to be returning this year. I had a third-place finish in 2020, the last time we were here, so I’m hopeful we can be back on the podium again this weekend. The competition is heating up with different drivers entering and along with some newly built TA cars, there should be some great battles throughout the field. Fortunately, the weather looks great, and we should have sunny skies for the race!” commented Ruman.
As part of the 2022 SpeedTour, Trans Am is running in conjunction with the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) with many activities for fans to participate in throughout the weekend. Sixty-three competitors are entered across all classes for the weekend, with fourteen running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday through Sunday at the 18 turn, 3.27-mile prominent road course. The TA2® race is Saturday, October 8th at 11:40am, and the TA/XGT/SGT/GT feature race will be Sunday at 1:30pm, both races are 30-laps (102-mi) – all times listed are ET.
