Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series Championship Presented by Pirelli returned to Road American, WI, this past weekend as part of the 2024 SpeedTour. After a disappointing race at Mid-Ohio, the two-time Trans Am Champion rebounded to finish on the podium for the second time this season.
Despite the rain early Friday during testing, Ruman was comfortable with the setup on the car right off the trailer. The top 7 were close in times all weekend, with Ruman ultimately qualifying her No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Chevrolet Corvette P5 for Sunday’s TA/GT race. Cooler temperatures and sunny skies prevailed for the race, with an exciting combination of speed, battles and attrition for the Trans Am 100.
“The highs and lows of racing are real, from one weekend to the next! I must thank my team for giving me a great car all weekend long and that power plant by ECR Engines got me to the front. I had some good battles in the race, but Paul (Menard) got some distance on me when I was working to get by some cars. We had a solid third place finish and we were pleased with a podium after our struggles in the last few rounds,” commented Ruman. “I also want to wish everyone a Happy Independence Day and I’m so thankful for the dedication and sacrifices of all the people in our Armed Forces. We are home of the free, because of the brave!”
After Round 7 at Road America, Paul Menard leads the TA National class championship with 686 points, followed by Chris Dyson in second – 620, Tomy Drissi third – 585, Adam Andretti is fourth – 567, and Amy Ruman sits in fifth – with 566 points.
