Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series is heating up this weekend as the teams head to the southern border to the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Texas for Round 10 of the 2019 Championship. Sizzling temperatures will be taxing on the drivers and teams as the weekend highs are forecasted for 95 degrees and up.
Ruman maintains third place in the points standings after capturing a fifth-place finish at VIRgina International Raceway just over a week ago. She qualified the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette seventh on the grid and was able to take home another top five finish.
“This weekend will be challenging for the teams and us drivers. It is going to be scorching hot down there, but thank goodness I will have my COOLSHIRT System in the car to help with cockpit temperatures. COTA is a very busy track with an interesting configuration, its always fun running there!” exclaimed Ruman. “We’ve won at COTA and also took home a third place before, so I’m hoping we can put something together and have a good run this weekend.”
This will be Trans Am’s fifth consecutive appearance at the signature purpose-built Formula 1 track and will be running in conjunction with the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) for a weekend full of Texas fun and entertainment. The 3.4-mile world-class track is made up of 20 turns, dramatic elevation changes, including the 133-foot climb up to a tremendously tight turn 1.
54 competitors are entered across all classes for the event with 9 running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday through Sunday. The TA/SGT/GT will be Saturday, October 5th at 10:50am, and the TA2 Race Powered by AEM will take place Sunday at 11:05am, both races are 102.81-miles, 30-laps – all times listed are CDT. Fans can visit gotransam.com or SVRA.com for tickets, full schedule, and all other weekend information.
