Munroe Falls, Ohio – Amy Ruman and the Ruman Racing team are heading south again to the Georgia Speedfest for Round 2 of the Trans Am Series Championship Presented by Pirelli. The Series is heading to Road Atlanta in Braselton, GA alongside the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) and International GT, Trans Am’s tenth consecutive appearance at the iconic circuit.
Ruman is set to pilot the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette and is hoping for good fortune this weekend at Road Atlanta. After a frustrating start to the season at Sebring (15th) a few weeks ago, she is looking to rebound with a good finish at Road Atlanta. Ruman is fond of the iconic 12-turn, 2.54-mile circuit, capturing her first TA win here in 2011, also marking the first time a female had won a race in the 45-year history of the Trans Am Series. She continued to have much success here, capturing two more victories in 2015 and 2016, and a second-place finish in 2017.
“Road Atlanta has been a very good track for us throughout the years and I’m thrilled to be back here. I’m confident that we will run up front this weekend, we have good set-ups here thanks to my Dad. I truly hope I can get a clean race in with no more issues! We are behind in the points standings, but it’s a very long season and our determination and hard work will get us back up front where we belong,” stated Ruman.
There are 48 competitors entered for this weekend’s races across the four classes. Ruman’s TA class, at 14 entries, will run the multi-class format featuring a joint race with the TA/TA3/TA4 classes for a total of 22 race entries. The TA2 class, powered by AEM, will run a separate race with 26 entries.
Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday through Saturday. The TA2 Muscle Car Challenge race will take place on Saturday March 31, 2018 at 11:10am EST, followed by the TA/3/4 race at 2:55pm EST, both races are 40 laps/101.6-miles.
