Munroe Falls, Ohio – (7 June 2012) – As the Trans Am Series heads to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for Round 3 of the championship, Ohio-based racer Amy Ruman is set for a strong weekend behind the wheel of the No. 23 McNichols Co./Goodyear/Cenweld Corvette at her home track located just 1.5-hours south of the Ruman Racing shop.
Ruman scored a podium finish of third in her debut at Lime Rock Park two weeks ago and hopes for a return to the podium – preferably the top step – at Mid-Ohio in front of her hometown crowd. With pleasant weather conditions predicted for the weekend, plenty of Ohio fans are expected to attend as the Trans Am Series shares the track with the GRAND-AM Road Racing Series.
While Trans Am may have had a break in action last weekend, Ruman utilized the off-weekend for some SCCA GT-1 racing at the 2.258-mile Ohio road course. The team not only gained valuable information on their new C6 Corvette during the SCCA Double National event, but Ruman also delivered impressive performances as she captured the pole position in both races and claimed victory in Saturday’s race.
The results gave Ruman Racing even more data as the team continues to learn and add to the notebook of the new Corvette. Ruman currently sits third in the championship standings and aims to gain maximum points this weekend as she returns to the familiar Mid-Ohio circuit.
“I’m really looking forward to Trans Am being back at Mid-Ohio this weekend. This is my home track and I love running in front of my home town crowd. Trans Am has a lot of history here, and so do we, it’s a place where I have a lot of experience and logged a lot of miles,” commented Ruman. “We are excited about the tight points race and everyone at Ruman Racing will be aiming for that podium win in the race on Sunday!”
The three-day event will see two rounds of practice on Friday with a 30-minute qualifying session set for 9:20 AM (ET) on Saturday. The Trans Am race will take place Sunday at 1:45 PM (ET).
