Munroe Falls, Ohio – After the short off season, the Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli will kick off with the 2018 season opener at Sebring International Raceway in Florida this weekend. Amy Ruman and team closed out the 2017 year with a strong finish at Daytona and captured 3rd place in the Trans Am Championship TA class.
“I can’t believe the race season is already here! We had some ups and downs last season, so I’m looking to improve my finishes this year and try to be super consistent. Our TA class is getting interesting, we will have some new faces this year and some of us that have been here a while, I think it’s going to provide a lot of great racing for the fans!” exclaimed Ruman.
Ruman and longtime sponsor McNICHOLS CO., an Industrial and Architectural Hole Product Solutions company, inked another partnership deal for the 17th consecutive season. There are 63 competitors entered for the Sebring opener at the 3.7-mile road course. The TA class, at 19 entries, will run the multi-class format featuring a joint race with the TA/TA3/TA4 classes for a total of 31 race entries. The TA2 class, powered by AEM, will run a separate race with 32 entries.
Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Friday through Sunday. The Trans Am 100 – TA/3/4 will take place on Sunday, March 4th, 2018 at 11:00am EST, followed by the TA2 Muscle Car Challenge race at 3:05pm EST, both races are 100.98-miles, 27-laps.
