Munroe Falls, Ohio –The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli is heading to Amy Ruman’s home track this weekend for the Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio, at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH. It will be an action-packed weekend as Trans Am is running in conjunction with the ARCA Menards Series, SVRA Vintage, and F4 US Championship/FR Americas as part of the 2024 SpeedTour.
Heading into the halfway point of the season, Ruman is looking to gain valuable Championship points this weekend with a podium finish in her No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette. The two-time Trans Am Champion and team are still in the hunt for a Trans Am victory at the 13-turn, 2.258-mile legendary road course, a track she lives about an hour away from. She is optimistic for a great finish this weekend in front of her hometown crowd.
“This is such an exciting weekend for us every year. We are expecting a large crowd of fans, family, friends, and our sponsors to be in attendance to cheer us on. It really is the highlight of our season! I believe the new pavement will add to the challenge, especially since the weekend forecast is calling for very hot temperatures in the 90’s, so heat will be a factor. Tire management will be key, and I will focus on being consistent throughout the race,” commented Ruman.
Forty-eight competitors are entered across all classes, with seven running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday through Sunday. The CUBE 3 Architecture TA2® Series race will be Saturday, June 22nd at 12:40pm. The Trans Am TA/XGT/SGT/GT feature will be Sunday at 12:40pm ET, with a fan walk on pit lane beginning at 12:00pm ET. Both races are 101.6 mi, 45-laps. Visit midohio.com, gotransam.com, speedtour.net, svra.com for tickets, schedules, and all other weekend information.
After Round 5, Paul Menard leads the TA National class championship with 474 points, followed by Chris Dyson in second – 447, Tomy Drissi third – 407, Adam Andretti is fourth – 405, and Amy Ruman sits in fifth – with 390 points.
