Munroe Falls, Ohio – Amy Ruman and team are trekking North this weekend to Brainerd International Raceway (BIR), MN, for Round 3 of the Trans Am Championship presented by Pirelli – the Ryan Companies US, Inc. presents the Jed Copham Tribute. Drivers, teams, and fans will be in attendance honoring and celebrating the life of the BIR’s late owner Jed Copham.
After capturing seventh place in a wet race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course a few weeks ago in the No. 23 McNichols/Cornertech Chevrolet Corvette, Ruman will be looking for better results this weekend at BIR.
“It will be nice to be back racing at BIR to pay tribute to our friend and former competitor Jed (Copham) after such a tragic loss a few short years ago,” remarked Ruman. “We haven’t raced here in a few years, but I’ve had some success at Brainerd in the past. I am optimistic that I can find my way back to the podium on Sunday and gain some essential Championship points,” said Ruman.
Twenty-seven competitors are entered across all classes for the weekend at the 2.5-mile BIR road course in Brainerd, MN, with seven running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Friday thru Sunday. The TA2® race Powered by AEM will be Sunday at 11:15am CT followed by the TA/XGT/SGT/GT feature race at 1:35pm CT, both races are 40-laps (100-mi).
The weekend will be FREE to spectators and fans will be able to watch with a drive-in-style approach watching from the fences and tailgating from their cars due to COVID restrictions. Ernie Francis Jr. leads the TA class championship after Round 2 with 66 points, followed by Tomy Drissi in second – 52, Amy Ruman in third – 46, Simon Gregg in forth – 42, and Chris Dyson sits in fifth – 39 points.
