Munroe Falls, Ohio – After a disappointing finish at Mid-Ohio just a few short weeks ago, Amy Ruman will be back in action this weekend at Brainerd international Raceway in Minnesota for Round 8 of the 2014 Trans Am Series championship.
The Ruman crew has been hard at work all week long and managed to repair the damaged No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette from the Mid-Ohio race weekend. The upcoming holiday weekend will mark the 26th running of the “Muscle Car Shootout” event at the Minnesota track where Ruman claimed a win in 2012 and has also captured two third place finishes in 2012 and 2013.
Ruman is looking to show her strength again at the event and hopes to close the points gap in the fight for the Trans Am championship. She slipped to third in the standings after the Mid-Ohio race, just one point back from Simon Gregg who sits in second place, and 34 points behind leader Doug Peterson.
“We are not giving up on the championship and will fight till the end!” remarked Ruman. “The season is definitely not over, we still have four races to go. I like this track and we have done extremely well here in the past few years. I have been running out front the last few races, now we just need to finish there! I can’t thank my Dad and my crew enough for how hard they worked getting the #23 back together after that nonsense that took place at Mid-Ohio. We are back together and ready to go win this thing.”
The Labor Day race weekend opens with a promoter test day on Friday, August 29th. Official Trans Am practice will take place on Saturday, August 30th at 10:20 AM and a split qualifying session will take place at 2:40 PM. Sunday will feature practice 2 in the morning at 10:30 AM ahead of the 4:15 PM green
