Munroe Falls, Ohio – For the second year in a row, Amy Ruman grabbed a fourth place finish this past weekend at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) in Danville, VA in Round 9 of the Trans Am Series Championship presented by Pirelli.
In a tight field, Ruman qualified the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette in fifth position for the late afternoon race on Saturday. The weekend saw hot and humid temperatures, but rain stayed away for both weekend races. The field took the green around 5:45pm but it was still a very hot 86 degrees. Ruman immediately moved up on the start, overtaking a several positions and eventually swapping them back throughout the race. The race was a bit uneventful for Ruman who took the checkered in fourth.
“We had a steady race, but just didn’t have the car to keep pace the top three today. It’s a solid finish and I’m not going to complain. We gained a few more points and are closing in fast on third and fourth places for the Championship. Hopefully we can round out the year with better finishes at COTA and Daytona in November,” commented Ruman.
Ruman remains fifth in the Championship race with two rounds remaining in the season. Ernie Francis, Jr. leads the TA Championship with 230 points, followed by Lawrence Loshak in second – 225, Chris Dyson sits third – 198, David Pintaric in forth – 190, and Amy Ruman in fifth with – 187 points.
The Series has a month off and action will resume November 1-4 at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA).
