April 13, 2004 – Munroe Falls, OH – Bob Ruman returns to the Motorock Trans-Am Series for his ninth year of competition. He plans to compete in about half of the scheduled races this season. This Sunday will mark the 13th race by the Trans-Am Series at the Long Beach Grand Prix’s 1.968 mile temporary street course on Sunday, April 18 at 3:45pm. Ruman heads there with six Long Beach race starts and five top ten finishes, posting his highest finish with a podium 3rd in the 2000 race.
“I’m ready to take the McNichols/Cenweld Corvette out for a drive down the streets of Long Beach,” said Ruman. “The crew has been working diligently on the car and we are looking for a great season opener at Long Beach. I really want to start the season off with a strong finish, and I think we are prepared to do just that. My second Trans-Am race was at Long Beach in 1996 and I have fond memories of each year we’ve been here. The fans are great at Long Beach and the whole team eagerly anticipates our race here.”
Trans-am will take the track for two practice sessions on Friday, 12:30pm and 4:15pm. Saturday morning qualifying will take place at 9:00 am, followed by a final practice session at 3:45pm. The Motorock Trans-Am Series will then fire up the motors for the race on Sunday at 3:45pm.
