Daytona Beach, FL – Amy Ruman and team are rounding out the season southern style. Ruman finished 4th at the Circuit of the America’s (COTA) in Texas this past Saturday. The team has quickly turned the car around, packed up and are rolling across 1,100 miles to Daytona International Speedway for the season finale of the 2017 Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli.
Chasing set up challenges throughout the weekend, Ruman qualified the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette in 7th place on the grid for Saturday morning race. Ruman had a decent start, and proceeded to have battles through the race, swapping positions several times. Ultimately, Ruman made her way up to finish in 4th place.
“The car was fighting us all weekend, so we started the race with a completely different setup and had hopes that it would be better in the race, it proved to work. Had some great battles with Justin (Marks), and Tomy (Drissi), and just missed getting onto the podium – which was disappointing. I’m confident we will do well at Daytona, it’s been a good track for us in the past, having won 3 times there,” stated Ruman.
After a very rough season and falling short of a 3-peat Championship run in her 2017 campaign, Ruman remains fourth in the points standings, just three points behind Simon Gregg. Ruman will try to take over the third spot at Daytona.
Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Wednesday thru Saturday. All Trans Am classes – TA/2/3/4 will be running together this weekend and will have one race with combined classes on Saturday, November 11th at 10:15am, 103.24-miles, 29-laps – all times listed are EDT.
