Munroe Falls, Ohio – Amy Ruman and team are eager to get back to the track after a two-month break in the 2022 Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli TA schedule. Ruman has not been to the track since Round 8 during the fourth of July weekend at Road America, WI.
Ruman is looking to bounce back this weekend at Watkins Glen International (WGI), NY, after she encountered adversity on lap one of the Road America race. Contact between Ebben and Ruman in the first two turns of the race cut her left front tire, forced her to pit lane for a tire change, and ultimately put her a lap down. She stuck out the race to finish 10th place in the TA class, fourth in the points race.
Heading into the final three rounds of the season, Trans Am returns to WGI this weekend for its 34th appearance at the historic road course for Round 9 of the 2022 TA schedule. As part of the 2022 SpeedTour, Trans Am is running in conjunction with the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association’s (SVRA) U.S. Vintage Grand Prix event with many activities for fans to enjoy throughout the long weekend.
“Time to wrap up the season starting with the Glen!” exclaimed Ruman. “Everyone knows the Glen is my favorite track on the schedule, so I’m really looking forward to getting back in the car this weekend. We had a super long break and time away from the track, so the crew took advantage of the time off to prep the No. 23 McNichols Chevrolet Corvette. It should be a fantastic weekend here at WGI with a deep entry field of talented TA competitors to put on a great show for the fans. I’m hopeful we will have a solid weekend and earn some much-needed points to close out the season.”
Competitors will be running the 3.4-mile “long course” configuration which includes “the boot” section of the track. Sixty-seven competitors are entered across all classes, with eleven running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, qualifying, and races will take place Thursday through Sunday. The Franklin Road Trans Am weekend will start with the TA2® race on Saturday, September 10th at 11:14am, and the TA/XGT/SGT/GT feature race will be Sunday at 11:09am, both races are 30-laps (102-mi) – all times listed are ET.
