Munroe Falls, Ohio – After an enjoyable two-month summer break in the 2023 Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli TA class schedule, Amy Ruman and her team are excited to get back to racing as they head into the final four rounds of the season. The TA class has not raced since Round 7 at Road America, WI July 8.
Trans Am returns to the renowned road course Watkins Glen International, NY (WGI) for Round 8 part of the 2023 SpeedTour. The Series is running in conjunction with the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association’s (SVRA) Hillard U.S. Vintage Grand Prix event with many activities for fans to enjoy throughout the long weekend. Ruman has had success at WGI, winning here in 2016 and many podium finishes throughout the years.
“So excited to be back at my favorite track on the schedule, the Glen! To be honest, we have been off so long I feel like we are starting the season over again. I know it will be a great race, it always is here. Last year was a washout with tons of rain during the race and we didn’t fare well and found the wall, so I’m hoping mother nature will cooperate with better weather. Unfortunately, there are some rain chances throughout the weekend as of now. I’m optimistic we will have a solid run in the No. 23 McNichols Chevrolet Corvette and earn some significant points to close out the season,” remarked Ruman.
Competitors will be running the 3.4-mile “long course” configuration which includes “the boot” section of the track. Fifty-three competitors are entered across all classes, with eight running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, qualifying, and races will take place Thursday through Sunday. The TA/GT feature race will be on Saturday, September 9th at 11:25am, and the Big Machine Vodka SPIKED Coolers TA2® race will be Sunday at 11:05am, both races are 30-laps (102-mi) – all times listed are ET. Entering Round 8, Chris Dyson leads TA National class championship with 701 points, followed by Matthew Brabham in second – 587, Tomy Drissi in third – 577, David Pintaric is fourth – 556, Amy Ruman tied in fourth – with 556 points, and Justin Marks is fifth – with 489 points.
