Munroe Falls, Ohio – After the abbreviated 2020 season ended at Road Atlanta, GA last November, Ruman and the team are race ready and will be back in action this weekend for the Round 2 of the 2021 Trans Am Series Championship Presented by Pirelli, part of the 2021 SpeedTour. The Series is heading back to Braselton, GA in conjunction with the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA).
Ruman and team have enjoyed much success at the 12-turn, 2.54-mile iconic circuit, driving the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette to three career victories there; 2011 she captured her historic first ever Trans Am win at Road Atlanta, also won in 2015, 2016, captured a second-place finish in 2017, and a third in 2019. After a sixth-place finish at the Sebring season opener last month, Ruman is looking forward to finishing on the podium and scoring valuable points this weekend.
“I love racing at Road Atlanta and can’t wait to get back in the 23 this weekend!” exclaimed Ruman. “We have had a lot of triumphs here with multiple wins and good finishes the past and I’m just going to try and repeat that again on Sunday. Our set up was a little off at Sebring so hopefully we will have a better car this weekend. Looks like the weather may play a factor as well, as rain is in the forecast throughout the weekend.”
Fifty-five competitors are entered across all classes, with seventeen running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, qualifying, and races will take place Friday through Sunday. The Trans Am TA/XGT/SGT/GT feature race will be Sunday, March 28th at 12:10pm followed by the TA2 race Powered by AEM at 4:25pm, both races are 40-laps (101.6-mi) – all times listed are ET.
