Munroe Falls, Ohio – Amy Ruman and team are heading to VIRgina International Raceway (VIR) in Danville, VA, this weekend for the Round 10 of the 2023 Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli.
After a tough race at Watkins Glen last month encountering engine issues, the team was unable to attend Round 9 at World Wide Technology Raceway, St. Louis, MO. Ruman will be running an older backup PME SB2 engine in the No. 23 McNichols Chevrolet Corvette, as her primary ECR R07 engine is still being repaired from Watkins Glen.
“I’m glad to be back racing this weekend at VIR. Unfortunately, the last few races impacted our run in the 2023 points race, but we are trying to finish the last few races of the season on a high note. It should be an exciting race with some new faces and deep competition in the TA class. We grabbed third last year so hopefully we will be back on the podium again this weekend,” commented Ruman.
As part of the 2023 SpeedTour, Trans Am is running in conjunction with the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) with many activities for fans to participate in throughout the weekend. Fifty-three competitors are entered across all classes for the weekend, with nine running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday through Sunday at the 18 turn, 3.27-mile notorious road course. The TA/GT feature race is Saturday, October 7th at 11:45am, and the Big Machine Vodka SPIKED Coolers TA2® race will be Sunday at 1:35pm, both races are 30-laps (102-mi) – all times listed are ET. Visit vir.com, gotransam.com, speedtour.net, svra.com for tickets, schedules, and all other weekend information.
With two rounds left in the season – Chris Dyson leads the TA National class championship with 872 points, Tomy Drissi in second – 718, David Pintaric is third – 645, Amy Ruman is in fourth – 628, and Justin Marks sits in fifth – 599 points.
