Munroe Falls, Ohio – After a quick turnaround from the Detroit Grand Prix, the Trans Am Series is heading to New Jersey Motorsports Park this weekend for the Hank Sauce Weekend of Thunder presented by MPT Industries. Amy Ruman and the team are looking forward to remaining undefeated at the New Jersey Motorsports Park track, as Ruman has won all three Trans Am races ever held at the track – 2012, 2014, 2015. Ruman also holds the current TA track record with a lap of 1:18.547.
Ruman is also on winning streak, winning the last two rounds of the Championship at Road Atlanta in April and Watkins Glen in May. The team participated in two invitational races at the Detroit Grand Prix last weekend, though those races were not a part of the Championship schedule and did not garner any points for the drivers.
“I cannot wait to get back racing at NJMP this weekend, I love this place and I like to win here!” exclaimed Ruman. “I don’t know what it is about NJ, we have a really great package set up on the car and the guys have it really dialed in. Last year we overcame a bunch of obstacles and came from behind to win, this year I’m planning having a smooth race and staying up front instead!”
Ruman will be back in the current C6 No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette for this weekend’s race, after running the backup car at the Detroit Grand Prix invitational last weekend. In her pursuit for her second Championship, Ruman maintains the points lead in TA class heading into the weekend with 87 points, followed by Kerry Hitt in second with 65, and David Pintaric in third with 58.
