Munroe Falls, Ohio – Round 2 is upon us for the Trans Am Series Championship Presented by Pirelli as the Series heads to sunny Southern Florida this weekend to run at Homestead-Miami International Speedway.
Ruman is aiming for the top spot again after winning at Homestead in 2015. Ruman, in her No. 23 McNichols Chevrolet Corvette, is looking to come out strong after a frustrating 5th place finish last month at the Sebring season opener. Drivers will be running the “roval” style configuration of the circuit, making it a 2.27 mile/45 lap race on the joint road course/oval formation.
Ruman detailed, “I’m eager to get back in the car this weekend at Homestead. My Dad and the team have made some significant changes that I think will lead to overall improvement in our new C7. I’m looking forward to being fast and consistent throughout the weekend. Homestead can be a very slippery track, so I’m counting on the new Pirelli’s to have lots of grip.”
There are 49 competitors entered for this weekend’s races. The TA class, at 15 entries, will run the multi-class format featuring a joint race with the TA/TA3/TA4 classes for a total of 31 race entries. The TA2 class, powered by AEM, will run a separate race with 17 entries.
The weekend will start off with a promoter test day on Friday April 7th. Official TA practices 1,2, and qualifying will take place on Saturday April 8th. Sunday will feature two Trans Am races – the TA2 race at 11:00am followed by the TA/3/4 at 1:15pm, both at 45-laps (102.15-mi) – all times listed are ET.
