Munroe Falls, Ohio – It was a whirlwind of a weekend for Amy Ruman and the team as she ran an abbreviated race weekend at Pittsburgh international Race Complex (Pitt Race) for Round 5 of the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli, part of the 2024 SpeedTour.
Ruman missed all sessions on Friday and Saturday and wasn’t able to practice or qualify due to a prior family commitment over the weekend. She started from P11 in the back of the multi-class pack for the Sunday afternoon race and wasted no time after the green flag flew charging to the front in the No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette, ultimately taking the checkered flag in 4th place.
“It’s really a challenge to get by the mixed classes on a narrow circuit like Pitt Race, luckily there were no incidents, and I was able to catch up relatively quickly. This track was brutal on our Pirelli tires and eventually I ran out of grip and my pace slowed a bit. I was pleased we were able to snag 4th after missing all the sessions this weekend, however I think the outcome would have been a lot different had I started up front,” explained Ruman.
After Round 5, Paul Menard leads the TA National class championship with 474 points, followed by Chris Dyson in second – 447, Tomy Drissi third – 407, Adam Andretti is fourth – 405, and Amy Ruman sits in fifth – with 390 points.
The Series travels to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, OH June 20th-23rd.
