Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Road Atlanta Georgia Speedfest weekend started out as a promising outing for Amy Ruman and the Ruman Racing team but ended up as another unsatisfactory weekend.
The good fortune Ruman in her No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette were hoping for this weekend at Road Atlanta did not come to pass. After a frustrating start to the season at Sebring a few weeks ago, she was looking to rebound with a good finish at Road Atlanta, but mechanical issues forced Ruman to park it after entering pit lane mid-way through the race.
After qualifying 5th on the grid for the Easter weekend race, Ruman had a nice start and kept pace with the top five TA pack. It was about halfway through the race when she started experiencing some mechanical issues.
“What can I say, this is definitely not the result we had hoped for here at Road Atlanta. We had a decent start and I was keeping pace with the lead group, running a bit conservatively trying to stay out of any trouble and save the car for the end of the race. I developed a massive vibration that felt like a drivetrain issue. I pitted but the guys couldn’t fix something internal like that in the pits so we parked it to avoid further damage. I’m really getting frustrated, but we will persevere and make it back up to the top soon!” reflected Ruman.
Ruman finished the race 9th in the TA class, and 17th overall. Ernie Francis, Jr. leads the Championship after Round 2 with 64 points, followed by Chris Dyson in second – 61, Simon Gregg in third – 48, and Amy Ruman sits in 10th – 29 points. The Series travels to Homestead, FL April 13-15th.
