MIAMI – Feb 1, 2012 The Trans Am Race Company LLC., today officially unveils critical elements of the Series’ new corporate identity and brand initiatives. A new Series logo, web site and brand identity serve as the centerpiece, underlined with the Series thematic – ‘America’s Road Racing Series.’
“This day has been a long time coming,” said company President, John Clagett. “When we announced the formation of The Trans Am Race Company LLC, at Road Atlanta last fall, first and foremost in our minds was to restore the brand of Trans Am. The series has a long and rich racing history. It bridges generations of race fans and has served as a path to greatness for many of the sport’s iconic drivers. The road to so many of the world’s greatest racing championships passed through the Trans Am Series. Our goal is to restore Trans Am’s future and preserve its legacy. We feel the Series has earned the right to the title of ‘America’s Road Racing Series.’”
As part of today’s unveiling, Trans Am launches their new website athttp://www.gotransam.com. The site not only serves to promote the Trans Am brand, but also as a fan portal for current and past information about the series, and as a conduit for disseminating official Series communications and interaction with competitors.
While the branding cues are prominent, it is obvious Trans Am has grasped the future embracing all aspects of web based and social media online platoforms. Fans can subscribe to RSS news feeds (feed://www.gotransam.com/latest-news/rss.xml), Twitter alerts (http://www.twitter.com/gotransam) and join in on the Series’ Facebook fan page (http://www.facebook.com/gotransam).
“Our primary goal,” added John Thawley, Trans Am Public Relations Manager and president of Creative Communications, Trans Am’s marketing and communications partner, “was to exploit the ‘push’ aspects of online communication. We want to broadcast our information and give fans and partners the means to share and deliver it. I think people will find the site to be attractive, fast loading, easy to navigate and most of all, timely with pertinent information.”
“We set about with a focus on mobile devices,” expressed Thawley. “Research indicates that more and more people are accessing information from mobile devices. Anyone with an iPhone, iPad or other mobile device will immediately notice how well the site fits and functions on that device. It’s built to be mobile… that is the future. In addition, with our integration of Social Media tools, fans can subscribe and get information delivered to their desktops or mobile devices.”
With the new logo and branding, Trans Am is demonstrating its commitment to its competitors, partners, venues and the future.
“This is our identity,” added Clagett. “We are taking this very seriously and are determined to let the racing community know Trans Am is back and we’re back with a vengeance. While we’re well aware of the challenge ahead, we’re committed to doing things right. Our history, our competitors and Trans Am fans deserve nothing less than our best.”
Trans Am will kick-off the 2012 Championship run May 20, 2012 at Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada as part of the annual Victoria Day Speedfest Weekend. Trans Am first raced at Mosport in 1976. Ludwig Heimrath was the winner of that race driving a Porsche Carrera RSR. Scott Pruett holds the Trans Am record for the most wins at Mosport with four.
