Ruman Ready for Road America Trans Am Round 7

Munroe Falls, Ohio – After finishing fifth and taking home the COOLSHIRT Cool Move of the Race a Mid-Ohio a few weeks ago, Amy Ruman and team are looking forward to Round 7 of the 2023 Trans Am Series Championship Presented by Pirelli Road at America, WI. Trans Am returns to Wisconsin for its 53rd appearance at one of the nation’s most renowned road courses and one of the fastest tracks on the schedule.

Featured on a new weekend as part of the 2023 SpeedTour, the Series will be billed as the headliner at Road America. The No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette has been prepped and is ready to race at the legendary 14-turn 4.048 mile track, a circuit Ruman has yet to win at in her Trans Am career.

Fifty-seven competitors are entered across all classes for the weekend with eight running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday through Sunday. The TA/GT Denny Lamers Tribute 100 feature race will be Saturday, July 8th at 12:30pm CT, and the Big Machine Vodka SPIKED Coolers TA2® Series 3-Dimensional Services Group 100 race will be Sunday, July 9th at 12:30pm CT, both races are 25-laps. It’s a highlight in the schedule and such a great track to showcase the horsepower and speed of these TA cars. However, it will be bittersweet as we honor our good friend and former TA competitor, Denny Lamers, whom we lost last year. Denny was such a pilar in the Trans Am community and we miss him very much,” commented Ruman.

Entering Round 7, Chris Dyson leads TA National class championship with 598 points, followed by Matthew Brabham in second – 587, Tomy Drissi in third – 493, David Pintaric is fourth – 478, and Amy Ruman sits in fifth – with 467 points.

Ruman Takes 5th at Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio – Receives COOLSHIRT Move of the Race

Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli reached its halfway point of the 2023 SpeedTour season this past weekend after completing Round 6 at the team’s home track, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH.

Ruman’s TA class had a slick, wet, and rainy qualifying session late Friday afternoon, and she qualified 12th in the multi-class grid for the TA/GT Saturday feature race. It was raining early Saturday morning but dried as the sun came out for the race. She quickly moved through the field and settled in comfortably in 7th position. Once again, the battle of the Ohio drivers continued at their home track, where Ruman tailed Pintaric and they raced nose to tail for the majority of the race. On lap 35, the two encountered some lapped traffic and set up Ruman to split the pair up the middle of Thunder Valley. Ultimately, Ruman would take home 5th place in her No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette in the TA class, with that pass earning her the COOLSHIRT Cool Move of the Race award.

“We had such an amazing crowd here this weekend and I can’t thank everyone enough for coming out to the race and supporting us. I am so blessed to have the best sponsors, family, and friends anyone could hope for! I wish we would have had a dry qualifying session so we would have started more towards the front, but am happy with our result this weekend,” expressed Ruman. “It was great to have our sponsors, McNichols Co. and Valley Ford come out and join us at the track!”

Ruman Heads to Trans Am Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio for Home Race – Takes 7th at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli is heading to Ruman Racing’s home track this weekend, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH as part of the 2023 SpeedTour.

Last weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Ruman qualified the No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette eighth, ultimately taking home seventh Saturday’s race. “We struggled a bit with grip at IMS and lapped traffic held us up on the restart, which caused a gap. David (Pintaric) and I had another spicy battle going but unfortunately, I didn’t get past him,” stated Ruman.

Two-time TA Champion Ruman is still in pursuit of a Trans Am win at the 13-turn, 2.258-mile legendary road course. “For obvious reasons, this race is the highlight of our season. We are expecting a massive crowd of friends, family, and sponsors in attendance.  Mid-Ohio is defiantly a challenging course and has not always been kind to us, hopefully this weekend we change that with a podium finish! With any luck Mother Nature cooperates, and the rain stays away,” remarked Ruman.

Fifty-three competitors are entered across all classes for the Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio weekend, with eight running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday through Sunday. The TA/GT feature race will be Saturday, June 24th, at 1:15pm with a fan walk on pit lane beginning at 12:25pm ET. Ruman Heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Father’s Day Weekend Showdown at the Brickyard – Valley Automotive Group Partners with Ruman Racing

Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli is heading to Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend for Round 5 of the TA National Class Championship. The Series returns to the racing capital of the world, Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), home of the Indianapolis 500, after a three-year hiatus.

A few short weeks ago at the Memorial Day Classic at Lime Rock Park, CT, Ruman garnered a fifth-place TA class finish after suffering a mechanical issue with just 5-laps to go in the race. “We were disappointed we had a mechanical at Lime Rock after running well. It was an easy fix back at the shop, so we are ready to roll this weekend at Indy. It feels great to be back racing at the most famous track in the world! It should be a fun filled Father’s Day weekend and should be spectacular show for the fans!” stated Ruman.

The two-time TA Champion Ruman is focused on a podium finish this weekend in the No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette. In 2019 at IMS, Ruman took home a fourth-place finish and in 2018 graced the podium in second place. The weather forecast is looking sunny and warm, which will make a great weekend for spectating. Drivers will run on the IMS 2.439-mile Grand Prix road course using part of the oval and part of the road course.

Amy Ruman Set for Traditional Memorial Day Classic Trans Am Weekend at Lime Rock Park, CT

Munroe Falls, Ohio – After a long seven-week hiatus in the 2023 National schedule, the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli returns to Lime Rock Park, CT, this weekend for the traditional Memorial Day Classic event as part of the 2023 SpeedTour.

Ruman and the team have taken advantage of the break in racing, combing over the No. 23 McNichols Chevrolet Corvette and getting it prepared for the second phase of the season. Drivers will compete at the famous “bullring style” circuit, a rapid, short 1.5-mile, seven-turn natural terrain road course that has one of the highest average-speed laps on the schedule. Lime Rock is track that requires momentum, featuring high speed corners with names like “Big Bend,” “The Uphill,” “West Bend,” and the final turn called the “Downhill,” a corner that launches the field down the front stretch as lap times click off in less than one minute. Ruman has had limited success at Lime Rock, scoring two 3rd place finishes in 2012 and 2015.

“Before we get into racing this weekend, please take a moment to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day. While most of us get time off to enjoy picnics, parades, racing – it is imperative that we to honor our heroes and pay respect to those who have sacrificed their lives to serve for us in our Military. I encourage everyone to take a moment and say a prayer for the ones we have lost and for their families, and please pray for those who continue to protect the USA,” articulated Ruman.

“It’s great to be back at Lime Rock for the Memorial Day Classic. We always have such a great turnout from the fans. The facility and setting is one of the most beautiful tracks we visit. They are forecasting a spectacular weather weekend, so it will be an awesome weekend with lots of festivities and on track action!” stated Ruman.

Running in conjunction with Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA), there will be a remarkable showcase of modern and classic cars with an array of racing, car show, and festivities for the fans.  There are 49 competitors entered for this weekend’s races across all Trans Am classes, with seven entered in Ruman’s TA class. Cars will hit the track Friday and Saturday for testing, practice, and qualifying.

The Big Machine Vodka Spiked Coolers TA2® race will be held at 12:40pmET on Saturday. The TA/GT teams will then take Sunday off as the track continues to uphold its decades-long agreement with the community not to stage races on Sunday. Activities will resume with qualifying and the race on Monday May 29th. The TA/GT feature race will be at 12:50pmET – both races will be 68-laps (102-mi).
