Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli returns to Lime Rock Park, CT, this weekend for the traditional Memorial Day Classic event as part of the 2024 SpeedTour.
The famous “bullring style” circuit is a rapid, short 1.5-mile, seven-turn natural terrain road course that has one of the highest average-speed laps on the schedule. Lime Rock features high speed corners with names like “Big Bend,” “The Uphill,” “West Bend,” and the final turn called the “Downhill,” a corner that launches the field down the front stretch as lap times click off in less than one minute. Ruman scored two 3rd place finishes in 2012 and 2015 at Lime Rock in her No. 23 McNichols Chevrolet Corvette.
“Ahead of the weekend and all the festivities, I urge everyone to pause and reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day. While most of us get to participate in BBQ’s, picnics, parades, and racing – it is important for us to honor those who have sacrificed their lives to serve for us in our Armed Forces. Please take a moment to say a prayer for the service men and women we have lost and for their families and pray for those who continue to serve this great nation of ours, as our freedom is not free,” expressed Ruman.
“Lime Rock is one of the most beautiful tracks we visit, and they have a huge Trans Am fan base that loves this traditional weekend event. I’m hoping there are sunny skies in the forecast, so the fans get to see our raw HP on the track! It should be a spectacular race with tons of festivities for the fans!” said Ruman.
Running in conjunction with Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA), there will be a remarkable showcase of modern and classic cars with an array of racing, car show, and events for the fans. There are 38 competitors entered for this weekend’s races across all Trans Am classes, with five entered in Ruman’s TA class. Cars will hit the track Friday and Saturday for testing, practice, and qualifying.
The CUBE 3 Architecture TA2® Series race will be held at 1:10pmET on Saturday. The TA/GT teams will then take Sunday off as the track continues to uphold its decades-long agreement with the community not to stage races on Sunday. Activities will resume with TA/GT qualifying and the race on Monday May 27th. The TA/GT feature race will be at 1:15pmET – both races will be 68-laps (102-mi). Heading into Round 4, the TA National class championship is heating up. Paul Menard leads with 270 points, followed by Chris Dyson in second – 262, Adam Andretti third – 248, Tomy Drissi is fourth – 242, and Amy Ruman sits in fifth – with 239 points.
MAVTV COVERAGE AND LIVE STREAMING: The 2024 National Championship will broadcast LIVE on MAVTV’s linear television network and its Free Ad-Supported Television (FAST) channel, MAVTV Select. The 2024 SpeedTour will also be LIVE streamed online on a variety of social media platforms including Trans Am Series and the SpeedTourTV YouTube channels. In addition to live broadcasts of the events, 60-minute highlight shows will air Thursdays on MAVTV in primetime following each race weekend, with the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series race airing at 8:00 p.m. ET and the TA/XGT/SGT/GT race airing at 9:00 p.m. ET as part of MAVTV’s ‘World of Racing’ programming block.
