Munroe Falls, Ohio – Teams are coming off back-to-back race weekends and their third Trans Am race in the month of June as they head to Road America, WI, this weekend.
Last weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Ruman qualified the No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette fourth on the grid for her hometown race. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not cooperate and caused havoc as the cars rolled off the grid. “The rain came out of nowhere and nothing was showing on the radar catching all of us off guard. The rain was steady, but we were in hopes that it would stop quickly, it did not. Everyone started the race on slicks except Dyson who ducked into the pits to change to wets at the last second before the green flag. We stayed out and did a few laps on dry tires, and on lap four the crew called for me to come in to change to wets, but I was already past the pit entrance. Exiting the keyhole I just slid off track and straight into the gravel trap ending our day,” remarked Ruman. “I was absolutely devastated. We had so many in the stands cheering for us, but once again Mid-Ohio was not good to me.”
The Trans Am Series Championship Presented by Pirelli returns to Road America for its 54th appearance at one of the nation’s most notorious road courses and one of the fastest tracks on the schedule. The legendary circuit is constructed of 14-turns on a 4.048 mile track, the longest on the schedule.
Forty-nine competitors are entered across all classes, with nine running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday through Sunday. The CUBE 3 Architecture TA2® Series race will be Saturday, June 29th at 12:05pm CT. The Trans Am TA/XGT/SGT/GT feature race will be Sunday at 1:05pm CT. Both races are 101.2 mi, 25-laps.
