Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli will resume this weekend kicking off the second half of the season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In the Memorial Day Classic at Lime Rock Park, CT, Round 4 of the Championship where Ruman garnered a seventh-place finish. The TA class had a long two-month summer break with this weekend’s Indy race moving from June to August on the 2019 schedule.
For the third time, the Series returns to the racing capital of the world, Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), home of the Indianapolis 500. Trans Am will run in conjunction with the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) and their popular Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational featuring the “Indy Legends” Pro-Am charity race.
Taking home a second place finish in 2018 at IMS, two-time TA Champion Ruman is determined to see the podium again this weekend in the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette. The weather forecast is looking sunny and warm, which will make a great weekend for spectating. Drivers will run on the IMS 2.439-mile Grand Prix road course using part of the oval and part of the road course.

This event it so iconic with the combo of the Trans Am races and the Indy Legends race, it really makes a spectacular show for the fans! There are 44 competitors entered across the four Trans Am classes, with 11 entered in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday thru Saturday. The TA/SGT/GT race will take place on Saturday at 2:35pm ET followed by the TA2 race Powered by AEM on Sunday at 2:45pm ET – both races will be 42-laps (102.06 mi). In the 2019 chase for the Trigon Trophy heading into Round 5 at IMS, Chris Dyson leads the TA class championship with 104 points, Lawrence Loshak is in second with – 100, Ernie Francis Jr. third – 96, Tomy Drissi. in fourth – 94, and Amy Ruman in fifth place – 86 points.
