Trans-Am Season Opener is at Sebring This Friday
Munroe Falls, OH — BFGoodrich Trans-Am Series regular, Bob Ruman, will campaign a Corvette for the 2001 season. The 2001 season will be Ruman’s sixth consecutive full-season run with Trans-Am. Ruman, who has been a strong competitor in the series, finished thirteenth in the Trans-Am Championship points in 2000 and eighth in 1999.
“Trans-Am competition is the best road racing in the country,” Ruman said. “We have some new additions to the team and everyone is geared up for another exciting and successful Trans-Am season.”
Ruman will race the familiar red and black #23 Cenweld Corp.Corvette, but fans will note a new look to the car’s color scheme. Ruman Racing returns with sponsorship from Cenweld Corp., a major manufacturer of truck bodies and snow and ice equipment located in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Commercial Ullman Lubricants Co./Mobil is also back with the team as a supporting sponsor.
The 36th Trans-Am season will kick-off at Sebring, Florida this week with the Trans-Am Series 100. The 27 lap, 100 mile race will be shown same-day tape delay on Friday, March 16 at 8:30 (ET) on Speedvision.
Last year at Sebring, Ruman had a mechanical mishap on the pace lap and had to divert to the pit lane for a quick fix. He then charged all the way through the large field to fourth place on the final lap. While he ended up short on the battle for third place in the second to last turn, Ruman still finished seventh.
