Mosport: Trans-Am Race Features Pit Stop
Ruman and His Team Are Geared Up
OHIO: Amy Ruman to Race at Nelson Ledges SCCA National
Munroe Falls, OH — Veteran Trans-Am competitor, Bob Ruman, will compete in the historic Mosport Trans-Am Series 125 race this Sunday in the #23 Cenweld Corvette. It will be the first Trans-Am race to include a pit-stop since 1991. Ruman is 10th in the Trans-Am Series points standings coming into the Mosport race. He was 10th at Sebring and 10th at Long Beach in April.
“The pit stops at Mosport will certainly add to the intrigue and complexity of the race,” said Ruman. “Mosport is a perfect place for the first of the pit stop races this year.”
There will be two other pit stop races during the 2001 season: Portland (August 4) and Laguna Seca (September 9). The rules state that all cars will be required to pit for fuel. At least six (6) U.S.-gallons of fuel must be added to the car using approved refueling
equipment and procedures. The fuel dump can must be empty at the completion of the mandatory pit stop.
The mandatory fuel pit stop must begin under green flag conditions and may not occur until at least 25 percent of the scheduled race distance has been completed. During refueling, no other work on the car is permitted. All tools and pit equipment (including tires and tire changing equipment) must remain behind the pit wall until refueling is completed and the dump can is disconnected from the car. All cars must take the checkered flag on the race track, not in the pit lane.
The Track — The track is 2.459 miles with 10 turns. The Trans-Am race will be Sunday, May 20, at 1:00 pm. The race will be 50 laps for 123 miles — 10 laps longer than the usual Trans-Am race.
Television — The Mosport Trans-Am race will be televised on live on Speedvision, Sunday May 20, at 1:00 pm (ET).
