Munroe Falls, OH – Amy Ruman and the Ruman Racing team is heading to BeaveRun Motorsports Complex in PA this weekend. Ruman will be back to driving the #23 Corvette after a month off from the cockpit.

“I am really happy to get back into the car after missing the last two races. Last year’s race at BeaveRun was a really exciting, close race and I won. Hopefully I can repeat last year’s win,” stated Ruman.

Ruman is currently leading the Northeast Division in the points chase.

Munroe Falls, OH – Unfortunately, the Ruman Racing team was unable to compete in the SCCA National at Nelson Ledges, Ohio this past weekend. Driver Amy Ruman, coming off of two wins this season in the #23 McNichols/SafetyToday/Cenweld Corvette, missed the race due to timing issues with some unavailable parts.

“I was really disappointed to miss this race. We usually have a great car for Nelson’s and I wanted to try and win three in a row. Unfortunately, both of my motors were due for maintenance and rebuilds, and some of the parts were unavailable to complete the job in such a short window of time between races,” stated Ruman.

This upcoming weekend is usually a scheduled race for the team at Mid-Ohio, but Ruman will have to sit this one out due to prior family commitments. “We were scheduled to miss this race originally, but not Nelson’s. It’s a shame that we missed back-to-back weekends, but we should be all set for BeaveRun June 17th and 18th.”

The crew will be working diligently to have everything in line for the BeaveRun National. This break in action will give the team a chance to comb over the Corvette and give Ruman a great racing machine.

May 10, 2006 – Contact: Amy Ruman

Munroe Falls, OH – Ruman Racing competed in the SCCA Nationals at Summit Point, WV on April 9 and New Hampshire International Speedway this past weekend. At those races, driver Amy Ruman captured both the pole positions and victories in the #23 McNichols/SafetyToday/Cenweld Corvette.

After qualifying in the rain at Summit Point, Ruman was on the pole for the race. The closest GT-1 competitor was Bill Thumel, who qualified in 7th place. Ruman led flag to flag with Thumel and Bill Rozmajzl trying to chase her down. They were unable to catch her and she won with a margin of 10.55 seconds.

“It was a relativity uneventful race for me, which sometimes can be nice! It was a great way to start off the 2006 season,” stated Ruman. “I’m also so pleased to have McNichols Co. and Safety Today return as sponsors this season.”

Ruman and the team headed up to New Hampshire this past weekend to compete in the second race of the season. Ruman set the pace in only her second lap of first-round qualifying on Saturday, subsequently losing the motor on the third lap. Her lap time held up though both rounds of qualifying placing her on the pole for the second race in a row.

“It was a good news and bad news day. The good news was that I was able to put together a great lap early, the bad news was that we had to change the motor and skip the second round of qualifying,” exclaimed Ruman. “I was sweating it out keeping tabs on everyone in the second round, but my time held for the pole.”

Race day dawned cool, but sunny. Amy Ruman, Bill Thumel, Jack Busch, and Bill Rozmajsl rounded out the top four in the nine car GT-1 field. Ruman had a good start, but Busch went low on NASCAR turns one and two heading into the banked oval. Ruman and Busch were side by side until turn four going up the hill. Ruman tucked behind Busch and settled in. On lap two, Ruman passed Busch low heading into turn two and made it stick with a clean pass heading into three. She then gradually built her lead on the field to 23 seconds and secured the win. She also set a new track record with a time of 1:03.90, beating previous record holder Bill Thumel’s time of 1:04.85. Ruman, Doug Valley, and Peter Mumford rounded out the top three.

“What a way to finish a tough weekend. I have to give all the credit to my crew for giving me such an awesome car after Saturday’s break. They worked so hard to make sure everything was perfect for me and it was! I’m thrilled to start the season with two pole positions and back to back wins.”

Munroe Falls, OH – Ruman Racing heads to West Virginia this weekend to compete in the SCCA National at Summit Point. Amy will be back in the driver’s seat running the familiar #23 McNichols/SafetyToday/Cenweld Corvette in GT-1 for the weekend.

“I am really exited to finally start the 2006 season. It seems like it has been such a long winter! The crew has been going over the car in the off season with a fine tooth comb so I know we are in top shape for the weekend,” stated Ruman. “We are running a test day on Thursday to dust off the cobwebs and shake down the car. The GT-1 field is usually a good one here at Summit, so it should be a great race.”

The Ruman Racing team will have a new future driver/fan in the stands this weekend as driver Niki Ruman Skinner and Crew Chief Dave Skinner added a new addition to the family on March 17th – Robert James “Bobby” was born St. Patrick’s day. Now two-year-old sister Katie O has someone to go karting with before long!

As of today, the Champ Car World Series will no longer be affiliated as the sanctioning body of the Trans-Am Series. TOPEKA, Kan. (Dec. 12, 2005) – Sports Car Club of America, Inc. has released the following statement regarding the Trans-Am® name. The quote should be attributed to SCCA Chairman Gary Pitts.
“With Champ Car’s decision not to renew the Trans-Am name in 2006, SCCA is considering its options of how the name might be utilized in the future. These options include, but are not limited to, licensing the name out to another organization for a racing series or utilizing the name ourselves.”
