Ruman Looking to 3-Peat at New Jersey Motorsports Park Trans Am Round 5

Munroe Falls, Ohio – After a stellar start to the 2015 season with three wins and a third place at Lime Rock Park, the current points leader Amy Ruman is looking for a “3-Peat” at New Jersey Motorsports Park in this weekend’s Trans Am Series Round 5.

Ruman and her No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette, will return to the track as the defending 2012 and 2014 race winner, claiming victories on the last two occasions the Series visited the Thunderbolt track.  If Ruman scores another victory, it would tally three in a row at NJMP and four wins out of five races this season. This near perfect record was hindered by early race contact from another competitor at Lime Rock Park a few short weeks ago.

“I am thrilled to be back racing at the NJMP Thunderbolt track,” enthused Ruman.  “New Jersey has been great to us, and the last two races here have been very exciting.  The fans make it enjoyable to come here, that’s for sure!  Getting hit and spun on the first lap at Lime Rock was unfortunate, but I fought hard to come back and finish 3rd.  Since then, my crew fixed the car and we are ready to go. Fix gained a few points on me, but I’m looking to stretch that lead out again this weekend.”

The weekend starts off with a promoter test day on Friday, June 12.  Official practice and qualifying take place on Saturday, June 13.  Sunday, June 14 will showcase two races at the venue kicking off with the TA2 race, the MPT Twelve Lubricant & Penetrant 100 at 11:50 AM, followed by a 3:10 PM green flag for the MPT Fuel Systems Cleanse 100, featuring TA/TA3 combined classes, all times are EDT.  For tickets and schedule info, visit gotransam.com or njmp.com.

Ruman is looking to strengthen her lead this weekend with another podium finish and currently holds the lead in Championship points standings with a total of 128, Fix is second with 116, and Ebben moved into third with a total of 96.

Ruman Secures Podium Finish at Lime Rock Park – Makes Incredible Comeback after First Lap Incident

Munroe Falls, Ohio – Unfortunately, the winning streak came to an end this weekend at Lime Rock Park for Amy Ruman, but not her podium streak.  After an early race incident, Ruman drove an impressive comeback run from dead last to take 3rd in Saturday’s 3-Dimensional Services Next Dimension 100, Round 4 of the Trans Am Championship.

In another extremely close and exciting “Fast Five” qualifying on Friday, Ruman was edged out of the pole position by Paul Fix posting a time of 50.340, Doug Peterson grabbed second with a time of 50.643 and Ruman’s No. 23 McNichols Company Chevrolet Corvette and current points leader, secured third position with a time of 50.649.

The race day was picture perfect and Ruman was ready for the task at hand, but when the green flag flew and the field screamed into the turn 1 braking zone, Ruman was hit from behind and turned around.  Fortunately, the rest of the TA field avoided hitting her as she faced the wrong direction.  Despite heavy rear-end damage, Ruman quickly got the car turned around and back on the move, but she had dropped to last place on the first lap of the 67 lap race.

Ruman was on a mission to get back to the front, and boy did she make it evident, charging back to 4th by lap 20 and then gaining 3rd a little later.  A late race caution came out allowing the field to bunch up.  Five lapped cars were between Ruman and the leaders Fix and Ebben.  On the restart, with 9 laps to go, Ruman launched past all five of the lapped cars on the front straight!  Ruman ran the remaining laps nose to tail behind Ebben (in 2nd) and Fix (in 1st), but was not able to advance any further.

“Basically, I got drilled in the first corner of the first lap and was practically taken out of the race,” said Ruman. “We fought back hard and focused lap after lap on trying to pick everyone off, but I used up my tires trying to catch those guys. I had a little bit for them at the end, but there just weren’t enough laps. We proved ourselves, made our way back to the podium and got enough points to maintain the series lead.”

Despite the early race turmoil, Ruman had a very strong run again and with her spectacular five car pass at the end of the race, she won the “Cool Move of the Race Award” presented by Cool Shirt Systems.

The team is ready for the next round at New Jersey Motorsports Park on June 14th.  “We are off to New Jersey next, and I have won both races the series has held there, so hopefully we will get another win and get back on a streak again,” remarked Ruman.

Ruman Eyeing another Win at Lime Rock Park this Weekend

Munroe Falls, Ohio – Can Amy Ruman make it four wins in a row this season? We will soon find out as the Trans Am Series heads to the road race center of the East, Lime Rock Park, Lakeville, CT for Round 4 of the Championship lineup.

After Ruman’s dominant performance in Round 3 of the Championship at Road Atlanta on May 9, she remains poised and focused looking for that fourth win as Trans Am heads to one of the most famous road racing tracks in America.  The 1.5-mile quick “bullring” style track is very different for the drivers compared to the longer tracks the series sees throughout the year. The iconic seven-turn natural terrain road course, features corners with names like “Big Bend,” “The Uphill,” “West Bend,” and the last corner the “Downhill,” that thrusts the field down the front stretch seeing lap times clicking off in less than one minute.

“Lime Rock is a very challenging, different, fast, drivers track. You have to be precise here, lap after lap, which is the key.  As I’ve stated in the past, I’m just taking in one race at a time and looking for the best possible finish – another win,” remarked Ruman.  “We are excited to be here once again on the all-American traditional Memorial Day weekend venue, and the fans here are just awesome!”

Ruman’s best Lime Rock finish was 3rd here in 2012, so she is looking to climb up two more steps in Saturday’s 3Dimensional Services Next Dimension 100 and get another essential win in her battle for the Championship title. Ruman, piloting the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette, will have her work cut out with competitor Paul Fix, who is currently second in the point standings and has won the last two years at the Lime Rock Park event.

The weekend will be a short schedule, with practice and qualifying taking place on Friday, May 22.  Saturday, May 23 will showcase two races, the TA2 race will start at 1:00 PM and the combined TA/TA3 green flag will drop at 3:15 PM. All times listed are EDT.

Ruman currently leads the Championship points standings with a total of 102, Fix is second with 81, and Peterson is third with a total of 71. Ruman Scores 3rd Consecutive Victory this Season at Road Atlanta’s Trans Am Foametix 100

Munroe Falls, Ohio – Amy Ruman gave a dominant performance in Round 3 of the Trans Am Championship at Road Atlanta on Saturday.  Ruman’s win at the Foametix Trans Am 100 was her third consecutive victory this season and her fourth Trans Am win in a row, increasing her tally to eight Trans Am career victories.  Ruman previously scored a Trans Am win at Road Atlanta in 2011 which marked the first time a female had won a race in the 45-year history of the Trans Am Series.

Ruman, piloting the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette, qualified a close second and started on the front row with Paul Fix with just .126 seconds between their qualifying times in the combined TA/TA3 field of 32 cars. On the start of Saturday’s race, Fix and Ruman were nose to tail for the first three laps.  On lap 4, Ruman made a pass at the top of the hill in turn 2, took the lead, and never looked back. She held that lead for the next 36 laps and kept a blistering pace ahead of the field, at one point leading by 7.5 seconds over second place.  The fast pace was all the more impressive since it was a green flag race from start to finish with no double yellow caution laps. She took the checkered flag solidly in the lead and had the fastest race lap time of 1:22.610.

“This streak has been amazing, but we don’t want to get over confident. It’s a long season,” said Ruman. “You never know how Trans Am can turn out. I’m just counting my blessings and taking it one race at a time. We were blessed to win this race today, and the McNichols/Ruman Racing team has been incredible all season, giving me great car after great car. Thank you to everyone at Foametix for helping put on a great event and a great race. This win is for my mom, so happy Mother’s Day to her. I’m so excited, we’re going to carry this momentum into Lime Rock in a week and a half.”

Ruman currently remains atop the Championship points standings with a total of 102.  Fix moved into second with 81, while Peterson moved up to third with a total of 71.

Ruman Heads to “HOT-Lanta” in Trans Am Championship Lead for Round 3

Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series is heading south again to Georgia for Round 3 of the Championship.  This weekend, Road Atlanta will be hosting the series for the Foametix Trans Am 100 & Muscle Car Challenge.  Just a few short weeks ago, Amy Ruman captured her second win of the 2015 season, taking home first place hardware at both Sebring and Homestead-Miami, and putting her out front in the TA Championship points chase.

Ruman, who is on a “hot” streak, is set to pilot the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette and is hoping to continue her good fortune this weekend at Road Atlanta. The Series is expecting another record-breaking field, with 75 cars shaping up the entry list.  Ruman is fond of the iconic 2.54 mile circuit, capturing a win here in 2011, marking the first time a female had won a race in the 45-year history of the Trans Am Series.

“I’m thrilled to be back at Road Atlanta again this year.  Overall this track has been good to us throughout the years and I’ve been lucky enough to grace the podium a few times here in several racing series. My team and the No.23 McNichols Corvette have been strong this year, and I’m confident that we can continue our winning energy into this weekend,” exclaimed Ruman.

Ruman is eager to try and make it four consecutive wins in a row, after winning the Trans Am season finale at Daytona in 2014 and the first two rounds of 2015 this year.

Trans Am fans will once again be able to watch the exciting race coverage on television. The Foametix® Trans Am 100 at Road Atlanta will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network on Saturday, May 23rd at 12:00 PM, and the TA2 Foametix Muscle Car Challenge will air on Saturday, May 30th at 12:00 PM EDT.

The weekend schedule structure will allow for close racing among the classes, as the TA2 class will be broken away from TA and TA3 classes, and will have their own stand-alone race. Ruman will be busy again with a 17-TA car field, 37-TA/TA3 car combined field, and the TA2 class will see 38 cars entered for their race.  An unofficial test day will take place on Thursday and below is the official weekend track time summary.  All times listed are EST.
