Munroe Falls, Ohio – After a two-month break for the TA class, Amy Ruman and the Trans Am Series Championship Presented by Pirelli are back in action at the mecca racing capital of the world – Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). This is the second appearance for Trans Am at the iconic Brickyard, home of the Indianapolis 500. The series will once again be running in conjunction with the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) and their popular Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational featuring the “Indy Legends” Pro-Am charity race.
Two-time TA Champion Ruman is confident heading into the Indy weekend, coming off a third-place finish at Homestead in April. Last year at IMS, Ruman, in her No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette, was the victim of contact from another class; the contact forced her to pit and go laps down from damage.
“I’m thrilled to be back in the 23 and back at Indy! This race is going to be a great show, the field is deep, the weather looks good, and the track is awesome – what else could you ask for! Even though we have had a long break, we did some testing and my Dad and the crew have been working nonstop to try and improve the car. This race is going to be an all-out battle with a lot of great drivers, I would love nothing more than to be kissing those famous bricks at the end of the race Sunday!”
There are 60 competitors entered for this weekend’s races across the four classes. Ruman’s TA class, at 16 entries, will run the multi-class format featuring a joint race with the TA/TA3/TA4 classes for a total of 32 race entries. The TA2 class, powered by AEM, will run a separate race with 28 entries.
Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday through Sunday. The Berryman TA2 Muscle Car Challenge will take place on Saturday June 16th at 2:40pm and the Berryman Trans American TA/3/4 race will take place on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at 3:15pm EST, both races are 102.06-mile, 42-laps. Drivers will run on the IMS 2.439-mile Grand Prix road course using part of the oval and part of the road course.
