Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli Memorial Day Classic at Lime Rock Park, CT did not disappoint for festivities. LRP fans had a weekend filled with patriotism, entertainment, excitement, car shows, and tons of Trans Am racing action as part of the 2025 SpeedTour.
On and off rain hampered Saturday’s action for testing and practice sessions, but drivers were able to get in a few dry laps in the morning as the afternoon sessions were washed out. The weather finally moved out for Monday’s qualifying and TA/GT race and sunny skies prevailed for the fan walk and green flag action.
Ruman qualified P6 for the race and immediately went into a heated battle with Drissi. The two were nose to tail for most of the race, with Drissi driving a very “wide” car and Ruman unable to complete a pass. An early crash took out Dyson and a mechanical took out Brabham. Just missing out on the podium, the No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Chevrolet Corvette came home fourth in the TA class.
“Let me start by saying I think the Lime Rock fans are the best on our schedule. These fans come out to see us no matter the weather or temp and always show up to watch Trans Am! I had a great race and really gave it my all. It’s super hard to pass here at Lime Rock, and Tomy (Drissi) was really making it difficult for me to get around. We had the faster car for sure in the first half of the race, but I think I used up a lot of tire trying to get around him and then had some bad breaks with lapped traffic. That was a tough podium to miss out on, I really needed those points,” stated Ruman.
Following Round 5, Paul Menard leads TA National class championship with 501 points, followed by Adam Andretti in second – 481, Tomy Drissi in third – 440, Amy Ruman is fourth – 433, and Chris Dyson sits in fifth – with 373 points. The Series heads to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, OH, June 19th–22nd for Round 6 of the 2025 schedule.
