Munroe Falls, Ohio – Heading back to sunny Florida down to Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend, Amy Ruman and the team are looking to carry their winning momentum into this weekend’s race. Ruman will try to make it three “Trans Am Florida wins” in a row after ending the 2014 Trans Am Season with a victory at Daytona International Speedway last November and opening the 2015 season with a victory at the Sebring opener in March.
Ruman is happy where she currently sits in the Trans Am Championship points standings, first, and is looking to stay there. Last year didn’t go according to plan after logging a disappointing 9th place finish in her first time at the track, so she is definitely looking to improve her results with a win on this year’s “roval” configuration.
“My crew combed through the No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette making sure everything is in tip top shape and I am eager to get back in the car after the month long break,” stated Ruman. “We seem to be on a roll, and I’m optimistic that we can keep it up. If we could nail three wins in a row, that would be really awesome, but I know it’s going to be tough out there. In last year’s race we had a bad break with the rear lock up, so I’m hoping we don’t have any fluke issues like that again.”
Similar to last year, the weekend schedule structure will allow for even closer racing among the TA class, as the TA2 class will be broken away from TA and TA3 classes, and will have their own stand-alone race. This year, the field will be running the “roval” style configuration making it a 2.27 mile/45 lap race on the joint road course/oval formation. The Series is looking at another large multi-class entry list as 68 cars are entered for the weekend. Ruman will have her hands full with an 18-TA car field, 38-TA/TA3 car combined field, and the TA2 class will see 30 cars entered for their race. An unofficial test day will take place on Thursday and below is the official weekend schedule track time summary. All times listed are EST.
