ALSO CAPTURED NE POINTS DIVISION GT-1 CHAMPIONSHIP
Munroe Falls, OH – Amy Ruman and the Ruman Racing team are heading to Heartland Park Topeka, KS this weekend to compete in the famed SCCA National Championship Runoffs. Ruman and the team raced in last year’s Runoffs held at Heartland Park, where Amy Ruman grabbed 7th place in the race.
For the second consecutive year, Amy was the SCCA Northeast National Points Division Champion for GT-1. She captured seven pole positions out of seven races, scored five wins, one second place finish, and currently holds four track records. Amy won races at New Hampshire International Speedway (NHIS), Nelsons Ledges, BeaveRun, and Pocono. At Summit Point, she slipped into second when it started raining, after leading most of the race. She did not start at Watkins Glen do to car problems.
Ruman and the team will be camped at Heartland Park Topeka for testing and the week-long event Oct. 4-13th. The SCCA Runoffs bring together the top national drivers from across the country to compete for the title of National Champion in their respective car classes. Only those who place in the top-10 in their Division points standings are invited to compete. Ruman Racing will field the familiar #23 McNichols/Goodyear/Cenweld Chevrolet Corvette in Ruman’s fifth time at the Runoffs. Ruman’s best finish at the Runoff’s was 5th in 2003. She earned a 7th in 2006, 6th in 2005, and 9th in 2004 after having car problems during the race. This year’s GT-1 race will be on Saturday, October 13 at 5:10pm.
“What can I say, I am really excited about this year’s race. It’s shaping up to be a good GT-1 field, and I am ready for this race. We have worked so hard all year long, and I really want to win this race for my team. They have completed some changes to the track which have made the course much faster,” stated Ruman. “Other teams have already been testing on the new track, but we will get our chance to dial in on Friday and Saturday.”
