May 14, 2002 – AMY RUMAN ENTERS PRO SPEC RACER AT MOSPORT
Munroe Falls, OH – Amy Ruman enters her first Pro Spec Racer event of 2002. This weekend will be Ruman’s first competition at Mosport. Ruman began the 2002 season with two races in GT-1 in Florida back in January. She finished 3rd at Sebring and was running in 2nd at Moroso before a gearbox problem ended her race early.
“I am looking forward to this weekend’s Pro event at Mosport. I have never raced here before, so I am fortunate that there is a test day on Thursday so I can get some time in on the track. I am looking to have a strong race,” said Ruman.
Ruman also raced in the SCCA Northeast National at New Hampshire International Speedway May 4th weekend. She qualified 11th in the 19 car SRF field. After a great start, Ruman moved up to 7th place. She battled with a tight bunch for 8 laps, when a Sports 2000 hit Ruman heading into turn two.
“This incident was really unfortunate and unnecessary. We were all racing in a pack through turn 2 when all of the sudden I was hit from behind by an S2. Had my right rear tire not been punctured, I might have been able to continue,” exclaimed Ruman. “I was excited for my sister though, she finished 11th.”
Ruman competes regularly in Spec Racer nationals and has competed in various Pro Spec Racer events. She won the SCCA Mahoning Valley Regional Championship in 1999.
