Munroe Falls, OH – The Ruman Racing Team decided to make the long trek from home base Ohio to Topeka, KS this coming weekend for the SCCA National and Trans-Am weekend. Amy Ruman and father Bob Ruman have decided to split the driving privileges for the races. Amy will pilot the #23 McNichols/SafetyToday/Cenweld Corvette for the SCCA National and Bob will be back in the car for the recently added “Trans-Am Thunder in the Heartland” race.
Amy Ruman will use this weekend’s National to familiarize herself with the Heartland Park Topeka course. This will be the same track that is hosting the National Championship Runoffs in October. Ruman winds down the season as the Northeast Division points champion in GT-1.
“There was a lot of discussion as to who will run this weekend,” Ruman said jokingly. “My Dad really wanted to get back in the car, and I wanted him to race too. I am lobbying to run the second Trans-Am event before the Runoffs in October, so we shall see!”
The two Trans-Am events were recently added to the schedule in a deal between Heartland Park Topeka and SCCA. Of course the Ruman Racing Team was happy to continue their participation in the series for the 10th consecutive season. Bob Ruman will be making his 96th start in the Trans-Am series.
“I am really excited to run the Trans-Am event. I have tested the car a few times this year with Amy,” stated Ruman. “The team has had great success with Amy taking the wheel, and I have enjoyed being Amy’s Crew Chief/Engineer. However, I’m certainly looking forward to being a driver this weekend too.”
