Munroe Falls, Ohio – Ruman kicks off her 100th Trans Am start as the 2018 season of the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli comes to a close at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Texas and Daytona International Speedway. Amy Ruman and her No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette will head South the next two weekends to round out the final two races of a very long season.
Ruman currently sits fifth in the Championship points standings – with first and second places out of reach, the former two-time Champion can still grasp a third or fourth place overall finish. Ruman has had wins and podium finishes at both tracks and is optimistic heading into the final rounds.
“Right now, it comes down to these two races for us, a lot is up for grabs yet and I intend to do my best and finish up strongly. We have utilized this month off to re-focus on a few things that should help us be quick. While the Championship title is out of our reach, we can make up a few more spots if all goes well. The gloves are off so I’m going for it!” exclaimed Ruman.
This is Trans Am’s fourth consecutive appearance at the signature 3.4 mile, 20-turn purpose-built Formula 1 track and will be running in conjunction with the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) for a weekend full of Texas sized fun and great racing. 53 competitors are entered across all classes for the event with 11 running in Ruman’s TA class.
Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Thursday through Sunday. The TA2 race Powered by AEM will be Saturday, November 3rd at 10:55am and the Trans Am 100 – TA/3/4 will run on Sunday, November 4th at 10:45am CT. With two rounds remaining in the season, Ernie Francis, Jr. leads the TA Championship with 230 points, followed by Lawrence Loshak in second – 225, Chris Dyson sits third – 198, David Pintaric in fourth – 190, and Amy Ruman in fifth with – 187 points.
