29 Feb 2024
Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli held it’s 2024 season opener this past weekend at Sebring International Raceway. It was picture-perfect weather for the action-packed weekend with record setting fans in attendance. The opening roster saw a deep field of past Trans Am Champions, NASCAR veterans, and a few new TA competitors. Ruman qualified the No. 23 McNichols Chevrolet Corvette seventh on the grid for Sunday’s race. As the race began, lap one, turn one proved to be detrimental to the pole sitter Ernie Francis Jr. when he tangled with Chris Dyson in third sending Jr. into the wall and Dyson out with heavy damage and Paul Menard (1st) took over the lead. Ruman had a good start and moved into fourth. After the restart, she dropped a few spots but had great battles with Wally Dallenbach Jr. (2nd), Tomy Drissi (4th), and Keith Grant (5th) throughout the race. After a late race caution, the field bunched up with ten laps to go. The top five raced to the checkered with Ruman (3rd) catching Grant and Drissi. Ruman Back for Trans Am Round 10 at VIRgina International Raceway
4 Oct 2023
Munroe Falls, Ohio – Amy Ruman and team are heading to VIRgina International Raceway (VIR) in Danville, VA, this weekend for the Round 10 of the 2023 Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli. After a tough race at Watkins Glen last month encountering engine issues, the team was unable to attend Round 9 at World Wide Technology Raceway, St. Louis, MO. Ruman will be running an older backup PME SB2 engine in the No. 23 McNichols Chevrolet Corvette, as her primary ECR R07 engine is still being repaired from Watkins Glen. “I’m glad to be back racing this weekend at VIR. Unfortunately, the last few races impacted our run in the 2023 points race, but we are trying to finish the last few races of the season on a high note. It should be an exciting race with some new faces and deep competition in the TA class. We grabbed third last year so hopefully we will be back on the podium again this weekend,” commented Ruman. As part of the 2023 SpeedTour, Trans Am is running in conjunction with the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) with many activities for fans to participate in throughout the weekend. Disappointment at the Glen for Ruman, Sidelined for WWTR
15 Sep 2023
Munroe Falls, Ohio – Round 8 of the Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli 2023 SpeedTour did not go according to plan for the Ruman Racing team last weekend at Watkins Glen International (WGI), NY. Ruman and the team were excited to be back to racing at her favorite track Watkins Glen International, NY, but sadly she faced multiple mechanical issues throughout the weekend. A hose failure caused an overheating issue on Ruman’s primary ECR R07 engine during Thursday morning testing, so the team swapped it out to an older backup SB2 engine. After sorting through a few more issues, she qualified the No. 23 McNichols Chevrolet Corvette seventh for Saturday’s race. After completing six laps, the backup engine started running hot as well, causing Ruman to retire very early from the race. “We battled problems all weekend, unfortunately its racing you know. We lost a motor on Thursday and now this one was running hot too, we don’t know what the issues are yet, this is an old backup so we knew it was a gamble. The McNichols team was awesome this weekend, I mean they worked their tails off and I wanted to at least try and get Read more →
