Munroe Falls, OH – Amy Ruman’s Trans-Am podium finishes are starting to rack up this season. She settled into her familiar podium position of 3rd this past weekend in the HARRAH’S Autobahn Grand Prix presented by MAZDA for Round 7 in the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Championship Series.

In Ruman’s first time running the 19 turn, 3.56 mile circuit located at the Joliet, Illinois Autobahn Country Club facility, she qualified the #23 McNichols Co./Goodyear/Cenweld Chevrolet Corvette in position 4 on the grid. Ruman was coming off two previous 3rd place finishes at the Honda Indy Streets of Toronto and Road America Trans-Am races.

The 10 car field took the green flag on a very hot and humid Sunday afternoon for the 26 lap race. The start was exciting as the drivers received a late green flag, nearly at the start/finish line of the starters stand. The front two rows mixed it up heading into turn 1, when Cliff Ebben (P5) made an inside move on Ruman to try for a pass, he overshot the turn and Ruman passed him back exiting the corner. For the first lap it was Ave, Lopez, Drissi, and Ruman bumper to bumper. On lap 2 Drissi had a mechanical problem sending him off course into tire barrier on the exit of the turn 3 and Ruman moved into the third spot. The top three running order would not change despite a last lap effort from Lopez, and the trio of Ave, Lopez, and Ruman found themselves standing on the podium together again.

“What can I say, three times is a charm,” exclaimed Ruman. “I just tried to maintain my race pace as usual. I had a good car, but we couldn’t quite get to the lead this weekend. At first, I was running pretty close to Ave and Lopez and then I just faded a little bit. This track is really bumpy and it was incredibly hot. I tried to just maintain. If you look at my lap times, you can’t get any more consistent lap times than I had in that race.”

“I’m proud of my team. I’m proud of the McNichols Corvette and once again we are on podium. We’ve run four Trans-Am races this year and we got three podiums–three thirds–I can’t complain and I’m happy about that. I want to thank my parents, team, and sponsors–McNichols and Goodyear. With this finish, Ruman has now moved into the fifth slot of the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Championship driver standings. The team is not scheduled to run the next Trans-Am race Labor Day weekend at Brainerd, MN, but will rejoin the series in September at Virginia International Raceway (VIR).

Munroe Falls, OH – Amy Ruman has landed on the Trans-Am podium two times this season, but is still trying to capture her first Trans-Am career win. Ruman will pilot her #23 McNichols Co./ Goodyear/ Cenweld Chevrolet Corvette in Round 7 of the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Championship Series in the HARRAH’s Autobahn Grand Prix presented by MAZDA this weekend. Munroe Falls, OH – Amy Ruman capped another successful Trans-Am appearance with a front row qualifier and a 3rd place finish in the #23 McNichols Co./Goodyear/Cenweld Chevrolet Corvette in Round 6 at the Honda Indy Streets of Toronto event. Ruman has finished in the top 5 in the three Trans-Am events she has entered in the 2010 season, two of which were podium finishes. Of her 11 career Trans-Am starts, this is her third 3rd place finish.

Ruman qualified in the second slot with a fast time of 1:11.886, just a tick behind pole sitter Tomy Drissi who had a time of 1:11.249, and ahead of Trans-Am points leader Tony Ave’s 1:12.225. She and pole sitter Tomy Drissi led the field to the green flag, but Tony Ave got by Ruman to take over second heading into turn one. The top four cars sprinted off together, Drissi, Ave, Ruman, and RJ Lopez hounded each other for first 2 laps. On lap 3, Drissi brushed the wall and had a tire go down. Ruman tried to go around both Drissi and Ave, but Drissi moved outside in front of Ruman and they tapped. Ave passed Drissi on the inside, and Lopez got by Ruman. Ruman immediately passed Drissi to remain in third place. Ave, Lopez, and Ruman pulled ahead of the field. The top three remained the same and when the checkered flew 44 laps into the race, it was Lopez, Ave, and Ruman at the finish line. Ruman posted the second fastest time in the race, 1:12.664, on the 1.765 mile (2.84 km), 11-turn temporary street course.

“What an excellent event this was! We were able to race in front of a big crowd of Canadian fans and to be a part of the Indy Car weekend,” stated Ruman. “I am thrilled to be on the podium in my first Trans-Am street race! The #23 McNichols Corvette handled very well in qualifying and we were quite pleased to earn a front row starting position. The race was tough, particularly since our race immediately followed the Indy Car race, so the track conditions were slippery from the start and just got worse as the race went on. We had a great three way battle most of the race, but I was just sorry I didn’t have a little more for RJ or Tony at the end. I’m trying to be patient, but I am really working hard to get my first Trans-Am win!”

Munroe Falls, OH – A very busy two months of racing will continue for the #23 McNichols Co./ Goodyear/Cenweld Chevrolet Corvette this weekend as Amy Ruman and the team head north of the U.S. border to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Ruman has had 3 new track records, 4 GT-1 National wins and 7 top-5’s this season–including a podium 3rd in the Road America Trans-Am race in June.

The SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am series will join the IZOD IndyCar series along with five other sanctioned support races for the largest sporting event in Ontario. The races will be held on the streets of Exhibition Place, a unique site situated along the shores of Lake Ontario immediately west of downtown Toronto. Exhibition Place is home to more than 100 special events and trade and consumer shows annually. This will be Ruman’s first time competing on the 1.765 mile (2.84 km), 11-turn temporary street course.

“This should be a really cool event to participate in,” exclaimed Ruman. “It will be my first time running a street course in the #23 McNichols Corvette and I’m looking forward to the unique challenges of street racing. The Canadian fans are always great–as we know from racing at the Trans-Am Trois-Rivieres races with Bob Ruman in the driver’s seat–so I know they will enjoy the show we put on for them.”

Trans-Am cars will take to the track for two practice sessions on Friday, a Saturday morning qualifying session, and the 90-mile, 52 lap race will start approximately at 3:30 pm on Sunday.

Munroe Falls, OH – Amy Ruman returned to the podium again this past weekend at the SCCA Double National at Watkins Glen International, NY. Sister Niki Ruman also ran in the double national, competing in Spec Racer. The two competed on Watkins Glen International’s 3.4-mile “long course.”

It was a picture perfect weather weekend, with the sun shining all three days. Amy wasted no time at all in the 9 car GT-1 field and put the #23 McNichols Co./Goodyear/Cenweld Chevrolet Corvette on the pole in qualifying for both races, setting the pace at a 1:49.870 for race one and a 1:50.294 for race two. Ruman bettered her existing track record of a 1:52.693 in both races, and now holds a new track record with a 1:52.460 – each race was on a hot, late afternoon track, which contributed to slightly slower times than the qualifying sessions. Ruman finally broke through her no-win barrier at the Glen and lead both races flag-to-flag taking home both wins of the weekend.

“Wow, finally our time has come at Watkins Glen! I am so excited to win at my favorite track. Bringing home double wins and a new track record feels really great. As usual, my crew did a fantastic job and gave me a great car,” remarked Ruman.

Niki Ruman drove her #23 McNichols Co./Dynasty Motorsports Spec Racer in a crowded field of 34 Spec Racers. In Saturday’s race she qualified 21st and finished 16th. In Sunday’s race, she qualified 21st and finished 19th.

“I had some really good battles going during both races. Saturday’s race was particularly thrilling, because I had a great start. Even though I was on the outside I was able to find a hole down the middle and pass at least 5 cars. Then we had great drafting and close nose to tail racing after that,” explained Ruman.

Amy Ruman will be trying to score her third & fourth GT-1 wins of the season in this weekend’s races, driving the #23 McNichols Co./Goodyear/Cenweld Chevrolet Corvette. “This has to be my year to win at Watkins Glen! It is my favorite track and I have the GT-1 track record, but in all the years I have been running her, I have yet to win. Niki Ruman will be driving her #23 McNichols Co./Dynasty Motorsports Spec Racer in only her second race of the season. She is coming off a great 3rd place finish at the May National at Nelson Ledges, OH. “I am really happy to get back in the car again this weekend. Munroe Falls, OH – Another dominant race ended with Amy Ruman standing on the podium for the second weekend in a row at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI. Ruman drove the #23 McNichols Co./Goodyear/Cenweld Chevrolet GT-1 Corvette to the finish line taking 2nd place in only her third appearance in 55th annual running of the famed Chicago Region SCCA WeatherTech June Sprints race this past weekend.

Ruman was quickest in Friday’s practice session, but qualified 2nd on Saturday to Cliff Ebben who took the pole for Sunday’s race. Sunday morning’s second qualifier was washed out.

The June Sprints is the second largest SCCA National event each year and 16 GT-1 entrants took to the track for the 15-lap race on the 4-mile Road America circuit. Sunday morning’s weather was sketchy and it rained off and on all morning long, but as the GT-1 cars took to the track for the race at 3:00 ET the sun was shining.

Ebben, Ruman, Harrington, Rich, and Giles rounded out the top 5 slots for the start of the race. Ebben and Ruman came to the green with Ebben winning the drag race into turn one. Ebben sprinted to an early lead, with Ruman keeping him in her sights. Ruman closed the gap to 1.9 seconds on the final lap of the race. Positions did not change for the two, as Ebben went flag to flag in 1st and Ruman did the same in 2nd.

“I wanted to win this race so badly” said Ruman “but Cliff (Ebben) is so tough to beat here. Road America is his home track and I bet he has run about a million and one miles here!” laughed Ruman. “I was a bit disappointed that he sprinted out to a lead on me, but I started reeling him in at the middle/end of the race. I needed a few more laps like we had in the longer Trans-Am race, then I think I might have had him. I can’t complain though, we have had two podiums in two race weekends here so I will be happy with that.”

Munroe Falls, OH – A very successful weekend ended with Amy Ruman standing on the podium for the second time in her Trans-Am career at the historic Road America track in Elkhart Lake, WI at Round 4 of the 2010 SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series Championship. The weekend’s race was part of the inaugural NASCAR Nationwide Series Bucyrus 200 presented by Menards and race fans came out to the track by the thousands.

Ruman had successful Friday practice sessions, then qualified the #23 McNichols Co./Goodyear/Cenweld Chevrolet Corvette in 6th position on Saturday, putting her on the 3rd row for Sunday’s Trans-Am race.

It was a beautiful sunny day when the 18-car Trans-Am field rolled onto the grid and took the green flag at 1:00 CT. Ruman didn’t waste any time and had a great start getting by the #36 car driven by Cliff Ebben who had qualified in 5th. Ruman had side-by-side action through turns 1 and 2 with #81 Mike Skeen, with Ruman falling in behind him heading into turn 5. Lap 2 was going well, with Ruman in 5th in pursuit of lead pack, until the exit of turn 14 when the rear-end got loose and she spun the car! Ruman dropped to 17th as most of the field passed her while she tried to get the car turned around. She got going and from then on she was on a mission to get back through the pack.

Ruman made up spots—passing a car nearly every lap—until she was in 7th position. Then there was a double yellow flag on lap 10 and the field bunched up. After the restart, she went to work again and passed two more cars bringing her to 5th place. She found herself in a battle from lap 15 on with car #24 driven by Rick Dittman. 3rd place driver Tomy Drissi was in their sights and the two gained on him. With two laps to go, Ruman picked up her pace and really started applying pressure. On the final lap, Ruman, Dittman, and Drissi were in a 3-way battle. She had a run on Dittman out of the last turn, and headed up the front straight. She passed Dittman at the end of the front straight heading into turn 1, and was right on Drissi’s bumper. Ruman stayed glued to Drissi and passed him coming out of turn 5. She was able to keep Dittman at bay, when he tried to make one last run on her as the two came racing to the checkered flag, with Ruman taking 3rd!

“It feels great,” exclaimed Ruman. “First of all, Happy Father’s Day to my dad who really nailed the set-up as usual. It was a crazy race. I was upset that I spun. The car got light on me coming out of that last turn and I almost reeled it in, but it just got a little loose, a little light. I was surprised early on that it got light. I was kind of bummed but I just kept my head down, stayed focused, and tried to pick them off one by one. I was pleased when the double yellow came out, because that brought the rest of the field together. I couldn’t be happier with the McNichols/Goodyear/Cenweld Chevrolet Corvette. It was a crazy last lap. My whole goal today was to stay patient and let the race come to me. I just didn’t know I was going to have to go from 17th to third, but I’m really happy to be on the podium.”

Munroe Falls, OH - The Ruman Racing team headed west to Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI for Round 4 of the 2010 SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series championship. This weekend’s race is part of the inaugural NASCAR Nationwide Series Bucyrus 200 presented by Menards.

Ruman took to the track today in a steamy, very humid 92 degrees, and participated in three practice sessions. Running fast all day, Ruman rounded out the afternoon and finished the third session in 4th position.

“We had a great day and the car was running great. I was mainly working on spots where I could pick up some time. I am confident that we have a good car for tomorrow’s qualifier,” stated Ruman. “I really like running at Road America, and it should be a great weekend.”
